Return of the Jedi, great old film or what? It's got it all, love, friendship, the most evil enemies, battles on the ground and in space, duelling, cute little creatures, massive ugly creatures, heroism in spades, plenty of twists to the story and a cheesy happy ending! yay!

The Empire Strikes Back is better tbh(tbh).

I love the redone ending on Jedi. When the SE's were first shown loads of people panned the cheesy pipe music and the extended celebration shots.

I think it works really well and I love the music. ;)

EDIT: OI LUCAS! - release the fucking DVDS you motherfucker!!!11:eek:

SE versions of the Star Wars series are the WORST THINGS EVER

GREEDO SHOOTING FIRST WHAT THE FUCK WERE YOU THINKING LUCAS?

On a related note Lucas wanted Spielberg to cut out Indy shooting the Sword Guy in Raiders for the upcoming DVD release but Spielberg refused, huzzah!

ROTJ was always my favourate of the three, the bit where Luke and Dad fight eachother (before Luke chops his Dad's hand off) is really quite stirring.

I still can't believe how good the destruction of the deflector/shield base on Endor looks. That massive explosion is just fucking ace.

I can quite honestly say that I think the special effects in a new hope, empire strikes back, and return of the jedi are much better that the recent 2, at least they're believable to us and the actors. You can just tell that actors just don't perform as well on a blue screen.

I think Lucas has an amazing imagination, hes just a crap director. TBH all 5 films are a visual feast, but in ep1 and ep2 the actors just don't appear to know their characters. The only exception I've seen is Jango Fett, who manages to be quite menacing (if you've seen Once Was Warriors you'll know just how menacing that guy can be).

I want to watch them again now, but videos suck :|

In the first trilogy the technology and effects were there for a specific purpose and not to aid the storyline, it seems in the new trilogy effects are the storyline.

That was a great film!

It had a very real feel about it as though what you were seeing was actually happening...very gritty and quite violent.

ROTJ, possibly the greatest film in the world. Ever.

Shame about some of the really awful edits they made in the SE. "Its alright, I can see a lot better" .... whats all that about? Please.

Otherwise, motor on Starwars. Just not the new ones.

I thought that was a South Park episode ?

I'm sure I've said this before in another thread, but the more I think about it, the more convinced I am that Lucas stole the original scripts off someone.

Because he's got no talent (at all).

All the Star Wars scripts suck. It was the charisma of Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher which made it special. Maybe the better direction too.

I have to agree with Wij for a change, although I have nothing else to add. I said it to my mate on saturday though who tried to smash me for slagging lucas.

I assume you mean the dialogue?

Its not the best dialogue in the world but it didnt need to be as the actual story is very good....it flows very well....and the action/fight scenes certainly make up for the poor dialogue.

I still think the effects are superb in the original 3 and they were created in the early 70's!

And were then polished up in the 90's :)

I've never seen the originals, but there's not that much difference really. I've seen photographs from both films and you can tell it's been cleaned up and that's it.

I remember the one and only time I've been to the cinema with my Dad was to see A New Hope when it was re-released, went on the day it came out and felt well chuffed about that :)

They only removed noise from the prints, they didn't really do much else. Many of the crappy effects from the 70's and 80's are still in the 3 films.

All I remember of going to see Star Wars is the bit where Luke calls down to him Aunt, in that pit/home/hole thing. I was 5!

Im so old!

Well not that old but I remember first a little (stormtroopers mostly, thought they were robots :)) and the 2nd clearly.

There were a few digital effects put in to each SE and strangly enough some of the worse effects shots from the originals kept in.

One of the major differences was the removal of the transparent effect they had by using layerd cells to make sfx shots (you could see through the cockpit frame on Luke's snowspeeder for instance).

Am I a SW Geek? :p

Well I was but the latest films were so mind numbingly aweful that I've kind of got bored of it now.

Oh and Lord of The Rings is for 21st century geeks, SW is sooo last century (it even says so on the credits before the famous scroll)

Heh, there's acutally quite a few changes in all of the films. Far too many to list.

Suffices to say that where once was a SW geek, is now a pale shadow left after two mindnumbingly bad films.

AoTC wasn't that bad, certainly not as suicide inducingly bad as Ep 1.

Lucarse needs shot for that travesty.

Actually Ep2 was bad. Apart from a big slightsabre fight at the end which looked about as real as Jordan's tits I don't remember any of it.
