see its all about the difference of pressure from the one end of the motor till the other. so with jets and stuff you have P1 on one side and P2 on the other, which makes a big difference, and you have a big Q=A*V. then in helicopters since both ends are in open air the velocity differences arent that bigm thats why you have to have big propellers, to boost A in Q=A*V (area)
