512 crucial ddr ram
Geforce 2 Titanium 64mb
23.11 det drivers
Creative Audigy soundcard
AOC Spectrum Glr 17" monitor(yes i know its jut a cheapy)

Ok the problem i have is a can't restart my comp. When i do the monitor switches off, if i switch the monitor back on theres no signal to it. I then have to switch off the comp, and then go through a disk scan when i switch it back on. I don't think its just the monitor because it seems like the computer is frozen up to. No idea what could be causing this, its not a big problem, if i just switch off the computer instead of selecting restart and then put it back on its fine but it can be a pain sometimes.

three things to try...

reflash your BIOS with the newest for your board (even if you already have it)

empty the CMOS and reset your options manually after the reflash

check the IRQ's your system is using within the hardware manager - any shared IRQ's are bad... let us know what if anything is doing this...

there are also a couple of windowsupdate patches for XP relating to reboots issues - never a bad idea to keep up with them anyhoo imo...

Generally problems in the shutdown prior to a restart are related to resources not being released by devices - if you update the mobo this may cure it, if it doesn't then I'd recommend unplugging all extraneous hardware like external modems and trying a reboot after shutting down all the TSR's and apps that are running

if that fixes it then it's a process of elimination as to what is doing it specifically...

worst case if you have a spare harddisc swap your drives out and install xp vanilla - if it works I'd say reblast windoze

a few possibles here to keep you busy at any length...

p.s. was your current xp installation done on that hardware?

i had the very same prob.I have a KG-7 RAID an amd 1.4ghz cpu, 512mb Crucial DDR ram but unlike you i had a geforce 1 DDR card , see the card wouldnt sit propley in the AGP slot and would sort of creep out from one side of the slot, i replaced it wit a GF2mx card which sat in the agp slot wit no probs.
