Resists question.

I need a detailed explanation on how all the different resists work, and if there's a cap etc etc.

Let's say i'm getting a nuke for 1000 damage. If i have 26% resist from items, AoM 5(20%), 24% from red resist buffs and activated The Empty Mind 3(30%), in which order does these resists affect the nuke? also would like to know if there's a total cap, if so, EM3 may be a waste..

50% of the nuke is 'absorbed' from the 26+24%, then from the remaining 50% the 20+30% is absorbed, so basically another 25% from initial dmg, = 75%absorb

thats afaik, might be wrong but think its right :d

26%(items)/24%(buff)+20%(AoM)+30%(The Empty Mind) = 26%/74% displayed on bonuses (the first number is from items and racial bonuses and will be calculated first, second one from the rest and will be calculated last).

With 1000dmg nuke that would be:

1) 1000dmg-1000dmg*0,26=740dmg (items and racial)

2) 740dmg-740dmg*0,74=192,4dmg (AoM, Emty Mind etc)

=1000dmg nuke would hit you for 192,4dmg.

So, with 26%/74% you absord ~81% of the damage (1-192,4dmg:1000dmg=0,8070), not 26%+74%=100%.

... I can be horribly wrong though

Buffs count towards the first total Saggy.
So it's more like 50%/50% which gives:

1000-500 = 500
500-250 = 250

75% absorbed.

okay, that 75%'s theory seems logical, but is there a cap of any total % resisted? it might not get any higher tho, apart from certain racial resists, which doesnt make it that much different

the thing i want to know is if they have placed a cap at 50-60% or something, in which case i could strip a level or two from The Empty Mind

if EM3 and Baod3 stacks then the total cap would be 100% on 2nd table i guess, since 100%resist = all absorbed anyway so :d

if they dont stack cap would be 20+40 from aom5 and baod3

well, BaoD says absorbtion bonus tho, that's more like a magic damage ablative, right? not that it makes it any different

if i have calculated correct here, this would be the highest resist % possible,
supposing EM and BaoD does stack:
(taking that 1000 nuke)

1000 - (26%(items)+24%(buffs)+5%(race)+5%(ML10 legs ) = 400

400 - (20%(AoM5)+30%(EM3)+40%(BaoD3) = 40

that makes a total of 96% resisted, now that's an interesting concept
