Resists question

Before I go into more detail are some resists capped at 26%??

The resistcap is (lvl/2)+1. So at lvl 10 your cap is 6%.
This is the "softcap" the "hardcap" is (not 100% sure) 50%. The softcap is simply your items total and the hardcap is items+buffs+ra's.

i doubt it, its quite common with my cleric out and about for my group to have up to 5x% body/spirit/energy resist

I've got 56% spirit resist with 26% items, 6% AoM2 and 24% buff. A dwarf friend had 61% body buffed up, also with AoM2. Doubt there is a cap.

There isn't a cap on total resists AFAIK. There's a thread on the Excalibur forums showing a smite for 25 (-186) or somesuch.
Also you seem unclear about hard and soft caps... a hard cap is what resists have, if you go over cap the numbers on your panel stop increasing, e.g. you have 40% of cold resist items, but your resists panel shows 26%. A soft cap is what stats have at 300, you can have 3xx in a stat, but it has no more effect than 300.

Its very possible for a firby to get 100% heat, 5% from race, 26% from items, 24% from buff, 9% from AoM3 and 36% from enchanter RA, however this is only while the enchanter RA is up but still possible.

26% items, 5% race, 24% buffs, 15% aom, 30% empty mind = 100% for anyone in their racial and 95% in all other resists.
All realms can get this, to be fair you need 2133600 RP and to have no other RAs to get this, but still...

I'm a firby and I have a whopping 13% in Heat ... 25% if I wear my cloak, but I never do. AoM here I come!
