Told you. Responsibility.

If you can't take responsibility for your actions,.... well don't like do the action.

But no matter your off to Uni, so you can act like a child.

Right?

fuck their references, im going to uni for the next 4-5 years anyway.

Aahhh, now it falls into place. Did they know you were going off to Uni? Years ago, after I'd finished my first degree, I was working in a design office doing contract work, but at the same time applying for Master's degree places. One day I came in and they said they didn't need me anymore and in not so many words "don't let the door hit your arse on the way out". As I went to clear my desk, I found my desk drawer open and a letter from University left out on my drawing board (foolishly I'd left it in my drawer). When I braced them about it they said they had no idea what I was on about, but the letter had been in the drawer the night before...

They've binned you so they can replace you on their timetable, not yours.

Right?

Or he could just sit and throw petty insults around?

Right?

sometimes i wonder why you bother ever replying to what i post here.

then i wonder if you actually read what you typed.

first of all, i accepted i was in the wrong. where did i ever say i didnt agree on them saying its gross misconduct? did you read the bit where i signed the paper showing i agree its gross misconduct? what about the bit where i said the managers agreed others read websites but it doesnt matter?

i think you just look at the post and see it was done by me. then you dont read it and just spout random shite not related to anything, like always when you reply to anything i put here.

and how am i acting like a child? is it childish to not want "dismissal" on your cv?

If you actually put dismissal on your CV, then you deserve it.

I was simply saying that ducking out before they chuck you out and then justifying it with "I'm off to uni so i don't care anyway" is a pretty pathetic way to go.

But hey do carry on going on about me not reading what you put etc etc etc, by all means. And if you think that was an insult, jesus have you been outside lately?

outside *shudder*

and interact with real people?

o_O

not likely :)

Where I work have a good policy on the internet - No pron, peado, illegal stuff, get your work done and then surf to your heart's content. If your work ain't done then they get a bit stroppy which is entirely justifiable imo.

btw saying that someone is acting like a child is an insult, it might not be as harsh as calling them a c**t but it it's still an insult

Companies hate it when their younger employees goto uni, maybe its envy that your about to have some of the best 3-4 years of your life and they are going to be stuck working. Don't worry about it. I had this sort of thing when I was about to goto uni, gave my notice in a month before the Uni started which would have given it away. 18 year old, been working here about 8 months leaving in september? hmmmm

Best was working as a student at a local call centre, the full time staff hated the students, well since most of them had left school after GCSE's and this job was going to be the highlight of their career. We'd rock up a couple times a week on free days or if we had a day with only one double lecture. Come in do about twice as much work as they were able to do and leave. I worked 18 hours a week and made only 300 quid less than the people working 40 hours. Still don't know how that worked out! Usally got asked for help with questions regarding money where they had to acutally work out percentages and divide sums and it was too much for them. I think the best was when a girl there was about to send out a letter which she quickly asked me to read to see if it was ok. "Colour isn't spelt with a K and has a U in it (as in Kolor) love..."

We have people like that at my place, Just because ive decided to cut down my hours at work to allow me to study part time at Uni. Some people have no drive or ambition and live only to fuck off the people that do.

No, I think most older working people dislike students because so many of them are rude, immature little pricks with no concept of what work is. Plus a goodly number of them were born with the silver spoon firmly fixed in their mouths, yet they look down on hard working older people just because they take what they - in their huge experience - consider to be shite jobs.

Anyway, back on subject: A client of mine had a staff member who had a hissyfit, threw their keys at the boss and walked out telling them to stick their job where the sun doesn't shine. The employee came back the next day, said they were stressed etc and that they didn't mean it. My client was advised by an employment lawyer to take them back, or it could have ended up at an employment tribunal. Apparently the law allows the employee to blow off steam.

So tris, don't think its all over. If, on reflection, you would like to see out the remaining time at the job go back and tell them the same. Just a thought.

lol, now i know you really dont think it through before you type anything.

whats so bad about not giving them the satisfaction of saying im fired? you seem to be saying i dont accept what i did was wrong, ive said all along i do accept it.
i didnt justify it with uni, i said i dont need their references so im not botherd about leaving on a bad note.

see, looks like you never read it after all.

Oh no we aren't! We're dicks! We're reckless, arrogant, stupid dicks! And the Film Actors' Guild!.. are pussies. And Kim Jong Il!.. is an asshole. Pussies don't like dicks!.. because puusies get fucked by dicks. But dicks also fuck assholes. Assholes who just want to shit on everything. Pussies may think they can deal with assholes their way, but the only thing that can fuck an asshole... is a dick... with some balls. The problem with dicks is that sometimes they fuck too much, or fuck when it isn't apporoporate,...
..and it takes a pussy to show 'em that. But sometimes pussies get so full of shit that they become assholes themselves. Because pussies are only an inch and a half away from assholes. I don't know much in this... crazy, crazy world, but I do know that if you don't let us fuck this asshole, we are gonna have our dicks and our pussies!... all covered in shit.
Catsby thinks we can all learn from this.

On the point..

I just left my first job... amicably.

It was the wierdest sensation and I almost felt like a grown up. I never thought I'd see the day when I was upset to leave a call centre job. It's underpaid and requires few skills (bar a little broadband knowledge: for tech support that is) but it was such a friendly atmosphere.

Most of my other jobs I have either walked out of in disgust or the company has run out of money :)

If you are young, looking for some friends and want to shag tonnes of fit 18 year olds .. I highly recommend it.

Saying that I am moving onto bgger and brighter things. Sorry to see the place though despite all my moaning and bitching.

i did sign something stating you cant view websites not work related, and that it would be gross misconduct.

just the thing is, in the meeting he said "people look at football results, but what your looking at isnt acceptable".

an external site is an external site, right?
so ye they did want rid of me, so halfway through yesterday i got up off my chair. i told them i cant be arsed and im off home.

fuck their references, im going to uni for the next 4-5 years anyway.

Just chalk it up to experience and move on - dont worry about the references from there as you can easily get another job like it somewhere else with only personal/academic references (and tbh most places dont bother with references at all - only very large companies tend to as its on personnels tick list).

On the subject of people who resent students it tends to be from a sense of inferiority - they see all these kids going to university and feel that they are being left behind.

Its as unreasoning as any other prejudice but is something you will have to deal with in the future. As long as your not patronising and dont ride roughshod over their opinions youll get on fine.

Good luck at Uni - I hope you enjoy it as much as I did :)

Does your firm have a communications policy that you have to read and agree to?

If not you cannot be disciplined for doing something for which the firm has not dictated a policy on *unless it is illegal, and to my knowledge, apart from agreeing with sodomy, FH is not.

I dont see the hypocrisy in explaining why I have found people to hold prejudiced views about students - did I hit a raw nerve or something as you seem to have taken it personally.
