Does any one know where I could get replacement Bios chips in the UK.

I have a MSI 6380 KT266A, did the bios live udpate last night. PC now dead.

I found this site http://www.badflash.com/ in the US, but would prefer a UK company.

Cheers

best bet is to contact MSI UK and ask either for a replacement under warranty (if the board is new you can always say it arrived dead) alternately see if they will sell you a spare - some manufacturers do...

MSI UK are in hayes, middlesex - hit their webbie - http://www.msicomputer.co.uk (poor I know) and ask one of the techies I guess.

Found this guy who will re-program them for €7 in Holland.

http://www.flashbios.org

Cheaper than replacing the whole motherboard which is only 2 months old.

MSI where not much help at all.

Fixed - by doing the following.

1. Copied the Asus bios on to a floppy.
2. Found an old motherboard, booted up to DOS prompt.
3. Switched the bios chip with the dodgy chip while pc is still running.
4. Run the bios flash utility.
5. Flip the bios's again.

All working. :)

I had a similar experience, except for some reason my Abit KT7a - at random it seems - managed to turn on and respond to the keyboard and floppy so I was able to reflash after it had screwed up.

Very odd experience.
