Is it like REP in GTA San Andreas were you can take over other gang areas with better rep, or is it like rep you climb mountains with ???

You can give people rep by clicking on the scale next to their post. As your reputation increases, you get new titles (and bobbles!!)...it serves no real purpose, but together with the length of membership to the forums gives an indication of how believable/truthful/useful/informative a post by that poster may be.

Actually that's not quite true. If you collect enough rep points you can take them down to Asda and redeem them for a whole range of excellent rewards. I currently have enough for a spring-mounted plum stone remover, but I'm saving them up for the electric nail scrubber.
