Yes, I am aware that many topics have been created concerning this problem.
And yes, I have DirectX9.0c installed, and yes, I have the latest drivers for my gfx card installed. (66.93 for nvidia XP, right ?)

So why the bloody hell doesn't that annoying error want to go away :touch:

My specs are:
Pentium 4, 2.6 ghz
512 MB ram
nvidia geforce FXgo5600, just 64 mb tho :)

I'm on a laptop btw. Could any of you geniusses *cough* help a poor newb
It isn't working on SI, haven't tried on ToA, I couldn't be bothered to patch up with toa to test :/

I know it sounds backwards..but have you tried using a slightly older version of nvidia's gfx drivers? i have heard of similar problems that have been solved this way.

good luck with it

Thanks for the info m8, downloading older driver atm.
I just did dxdiag aswell and it came up with some errors, whom I don't understand :m00:

Display Tab 1: The system is using the generic video driver. Please install video driver provided by the hardware manufacturer. DirectDraw test results: All tests were successful. Direct3D functionality not available. You should verify that the driver is a final version from the hardware manufacturer.

Sound Tab 1: No sound card was found. If one is expected, you should install a sound driver provided by the hardware manufacturer.

To me it seems like it says that I've got no sound drivers nor gfx card drivers installed, tho I'm quite sure I did ?

Just tested ToA, doesn't work either.
10 Minutes till the driver is downloaded (smallband, hehe :p) I'm hoping it works then, don't know what to do if it doesn't work then, BIOS reset perhaps?

1.Go into control panel>>>system>>>>device manager>>>>display adapters>>>right click and uninstall.
2.Go to add/remove programmes in control panel and see if nvidia drivers have been removed from list.
3.Download latest driver, i know for sure 66.93 ones work fine with daoc.
4.Download driver cleaner 3 from here: http://www.drivercleaner.net/
5.Once that is done reboot pc into safe mode.(usually f8 key)
6.Launch driver cleaner 3 and select remove all nvidia entries.
7.Reboot pc and install new gfx driver, then reboot once again.

If this doesn't work i have a feeling you got a driver installed for another device which is causing it not to function properly. You will find this out by going into system then device manager through control panel, see any warning symbols and that indicates that driver is causing problems. Also! no soundcard detected is a problem too, games require a soundcard or onboard sound, which soundcard do you have?or you got any form of onboard sound?

What he said, you might also want to look into installing any bundled drivers for your laptop..incase you need some strange part of the system board installed before it realises what gfx you have.

Right, I can't find display adaptars in device manager :p
Is it possible I don't have those cause I'm on a laptop or am I -as usual- talking rubbish here? :worthy:

As for soundcard, I think I got a SiS 7018, as for any form of onboard sound..I sometimes hear beeps.. :eek7: (Aye, I'm a noob in all that pc stuff :D)

Neffneff, where can I find those bundled drivers ?

Just noticed that, when I install the drivers and then check the software tab, the drivers don't appear? Does that mean they're not installed? Because then I absolutely don't know what to do :* :m00:

do you happen to know the exact model number?

are you SURE that its a ge-force card you have? (jsut checking)

it sounds as if you are installing drivers..but windows isnt associating them with your gfx card..maybe because it's not detecting the hardware....

this can happen for a few reasons, one is that for some reason to do with resources (and knowing how to use them) windows cant "see" the gfx card properly, and doesnt recognise it.

another one, is that you havnt got the gfx card youthink you have...as unlikely as it may be.

a fix for the first problem should be to install drivers from the "recovery" disks..these should include some that will remap the wayresources are used..and then hopefully trigger the installation of your gfx card.

You either not got the card, not been installed properly inside or installing drivers wrong.Right click in windows main screen, go to properties, settings, then advanced tab, then adapter tab then properties and finally click the driver tab there, is there any number there?

A new thing, im trying to get NF (Classic) to work on a P3. It has a VooDoo3 in it, but the b!tch refuses to start up under XP. It worked before on Win98se, just classic.

Anyone got/know any drivers for voodoo3 that do support DAoC under XP ?

Holy shit that's a whole new prob...

when i first started playing my mate had a voodoo5..with ALOT of effort and pissing around with bits of muliple drivers put together it worked okay on winXP...

but the original game box even said that voodoo were not supported..and they are supported even less now by all..

add onto that the fact that a voodoo3 only has 16 MB of memory and i do believe you be up shit creak without a paddle me friend..sorry.

When I first started playing DAoC just after release I had a Voodoo 3 3000 in my machine and the game ran like a dog even back then. I very much doubt you'll get the game to run on such an old card now. You can find XP drivers for it here but, like I say I have little hope that it'll run Superclassic let alone the expansions.
