Rendere creation failed

DAoC seems to run very badly on my comp if Im running it from the Win2000 OS.

Last night I created a new partition on my hardrive and installed Win98, I install newest DirectX, Sound drivers and Graphic drivers - all designed to run on Win98 systems. Yet I cant run the game and get the " rendere creation failed " I have transfered the whole DAoC library from the Win2000 partition.

What could be the problem?

I dont have access to other OS' atm other than Win2000 and Win98 nor can I reinstall DAoC - left DAoC cd at home.

Check the tech help forums, better responses in there than the other forums ~~

I've had the same problem before, got rendere creation failed. It all worked tho when I updated to the latest DirectX (9.0b)

the "rendere creation failed" is a graphic problem so it's either your graphic card drivers or directX that is the problem..
have you tried running any other games (with high preformance requierments)

make sure you download directX from here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.aspx
and your graphic card drivers from here (if you have geforce, TNT or simular which most ppl do) : http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

how to hopefully fix renderer creation problems

i had the same problem recentyl, jus after changing to Directx 9.0a

this is how i solved it

from the START menu

goto RUN

type dxdiag, and run the dxdiagnostic program,

now if you have the same problem as me, select the display tab,
and look to see if DirectDraw enabled, or disabled,

below you will see direct3d and something below that,

now for those who aren't aware, DAoC is a direct3d base game :)

now even if DirectDraw is enabled, disable it then re-enable it,

a text box will appear stating this will re-enable all aspects of the display system,

once this has been done, exit, the program and restart,

now hopefully everything should work as it did before :)

hopefully.............

You might have to reinstall your gfx card on the win98 partition. It'll use win98 drivers not win2k.

Dont know if youve done this already, If you have. Then i dont know. :(

thx for the advice but the prob seems to have solved itself. Daoc now runs " normally " on the win2k platform. :)
Dont know what I did to make it work though.. :p

sadly this problem can be very hard to pin point.

I had it off and on for about a month, (trying all the normal stuff like reinstalling DirectX and driver) but in the end I hade to totally reinstall the whole system. After that I havent had any problem for several months.

I sometimes get that when I start up a second account on same comp. Normally when comp has been on for a while and you get to notice some memory leaks and stuff. Runnnig win xp
