Remote Diagnostics

I am settign up a small IT support company in the Greater Manchester area. Currently we are offering on site visits only. Does anybody know of any software that I would be able to use to access my clients PC from my PC. Sounds as though I am trying to be a hax0r or something but it really is above board and legitimate. Obviously it would only be used with my clients consent

The reason it would be helpful is so that I can diagonose remotely and then either fix and resolve software problems without the need of a site visit and it being quicker. Alternatively I would diagnose the hardware problems and replace anything at the site visit.

Any recomendations tuly appreciated

I'd back up Clowneh's suggestion. VNC lets you work with a variety of platforms (just in case someone has a non-Windows PC).

I've been looking for something similar. It appears you are actually useful clown :)

And it's cross platform. Win

I just remembered Ultr@VNC as well.

Note that all versions of VNC, including the original one, from which RealVNC was developed, are actually compatible with each other, although the speed benefits only really come when using the same product at both ends of the connection.

My job offer would include working from home and 6 moths probationary period in which you would work for the love of the job and nothing more. Free healthcare(courtesy of the NHS) and 7 days (bank) Holiday a year. I wonder what calibre of IT specialist that would attract

Until you mentioned the pay and holidays, I pictured a very cushy working from home number.

Ah well.

VNC is good until the problem is with the network connection or hardware failiure and the machine doesnt boot, and you have to get up and go out to fix it :) other than that is a fantastically handy tool.

I use Tivoli at work for remote control of servers.

If the machine reboots Tivoli starts on the remote machine automatically as it runs as a service (iirc).
