Don't you just highlight the KEY then click on "edit" - "delete" DUH?

DUH ! ! !

jesus mate, do u think iam THAT thick ? :)

if u re-read the post u will notice i say "in a reg FILE" ie bollox.reg, i am NOT talking about regedit.exe ! hehehehe :)

Example

gs.reg might contian

REGEDIT4
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\GameSpy\Q3a]
@=""
"1-Exists"=dword:00000001
"1-Address"="<none>"

but how do i delete [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\GameSpy\Ut]
from within the file.

:)

Highlight the file, hold down shift and then right-click on it.

This will give you a menu option called 'open with...'

Click on that, and choose Notepad. Make sure that you don't check the 'Always open with this program' box

Notepad will open, with the reg file loaded.

I hope that's what you were after :D

hehehehehehehehehe :)

ffs i give in ! :)

iam i reall explaining this so badlly :)
ill try yet AGAIN.......

===========================================

inside a registry file, called gs.reg (opened by right clicking on the file, then slecting edit :)) there are a selection of text lines which contain keys and values which will be wrote into the registry......

i would like to DELETE some keys which are ALREADY in the windows registry, so i wondered if there was a REG_DELETE command or some thing like that, which could be added to the file and hence delete a key when the file was run.

===========================================

phew ! :)

ic
you are looking for a command
that will remove part of a the key in the
registry- i have no idea but could
you do it another way

like the *.bat files of old
so reg-remove-part-of-key-x.bat
would say xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
move my real reg and copy the reg i am looking to have over here
or loadreg x y z
and run the prog i would like to open.exe
just made it all up
but it may be a solution
how do you reload the reg

OIC what you mean!

Basically you don't want to be trawling through the registry looking for keys to delete.

Well, I know how to do it through a VB program, but not through a reg file.

If you have the VB6 runtime files, I could knock you up a quick proggie that'll add/delete keys you specify...assuming that IS what you want :)

From what I've read, that is what he wants, sort of. I think he wants to create a *.reg file that when run will add some keys and delete other keys. I haven't been able to find a command that does that, yet.

there is a proggie that you could buy to do this but i cannot remember it at all..
i think its a norton but not sure
anyway what that does is delete unwanted addtions in the registry and is customizable too.. just a thought :D
