reflective water not always reflective

Hi ppl,

Finally decided to put this on the board since I have run out of options myself :).

I run SI with the fancy reflective water turned on, but the problem is that the water isn't always reflective. Every now and then, it turns a milky colour, like a pale white overlay. When I move my character around a bit, the effect is OK again. It occurs regularly in every place, there's no real pattern to it.

I am running a GF4 4200 with the latest drivers (41.09) and DirectX9. I have tried tweaking the graphics settings within DAoC, but to no avail. Other games seem to work fine, although I rarely play anything else besides DAoC ;-).

I'd like to know if anyone else has (had) this problem and if something can be done about it. It would be such a waste to turn the reflective water off, so all help is appreciated.

TIA

I get the same problem, have tried with various settings but makes no difference. It's always very nice when i'm close but seems to happen when im a little way away from the water. I have all settings maxed.

Same here - let me know if you sort it:

GE Force 4 Ti4600
Athlon 2200
MSI KT400 Motherboard
512 mb 333mhz RAM

Also get some funny reflections at a distance where the reflections look blocky.

Should be running latest drivers and DX9

I've surfing around a bit more and this may be linked to DirectX 9.0. Microsoft is supposed to be releasing 9.1 very soon, so let's hope our reflective water woes are over then :).

New Detonators are out from last week, but they don't seem to fix this particular problem. I have spent most of last week in Keltoi and Tepok's though, so I haven't come across too much water lately... You can try and install these drivers and see what they do.

If this fails, we'll have to wait for DX9.1 :p
