Ahhh but do you still have to mine asteroids for hours and hours and hours and hours?

Ive not played since Beta. It was pretty, but theres only so many asteroids a man can grind tbh.

Why talk about games if you have no clue about them?

The game changed since beta so much...

You mean Titans, Carriers, or something else?

Quite a few massive player controlled ships available now, some for epic-scale space combat :)

Those silly big ships in the pic in the first post. fucking huge!
I don't know much about EVE just that it takes craploads of time to do anything, but is kinda deep and complex. Like you want the universe to be ;o

While those massive ships are player controlled you won't see many of them in Eve, if any when you play since the requirements to build a Titan is massive.

Yea, extended my trial acc I had from months back few days ago. Tried it then and didnt take the time to learn the complex system. And yes, it takes well time to learn just the basics :p Doubt I've learned half of what there is to learn...

Find it quite fun, although most I do atm is either agent missions or mining. Don't know what I'll specialize in the end, but want to get filthy rich with a ship with a big cargo hold. ;) Got 341 m^3 on my Bantam or so hehe

No doubt the biggest gameworld I've seen in a MMO, altho lots of it is just the vacuum of space :p warping around etc, well many items and ships aswell. The economy just blasted me away, very deep. However I'm still not sure if all items are 100% player made, like all tritanium and such has to be mined by people before others can produce their wares.
Don't know anything about PvP, but I expect it so suck compared to DAoC :p

well sure as "solo player" you event.. come up in a battleship and can doo some missions

however Soloplayers go play some single player games for gods sake

Yea but newbies don't have it to easy, most good organized corps want 1mill skillpoints, 1 month ingame, maturity minimum. So in the start it can be quite lonely. But ofc its no single player game ;)

Aye, lot of players on the free trial, 3k the other night, it was maxed.

19-20k seems to be the norm atm, seen 22k a few days ago.

22500ish on sunday, however it is totally unplayable for very many players due to the extreme lag. Some have a 5 minute wait to activate modules, 15 minutes to jump etc. Totally unplayable from my part, and it was perfectly fine abit under 2 weeks ago.

In the busy systems its lag-tastic, but once you get out of the newbie zones the lag lets up a lot i found.

They are supposed to be working on the server at the moment to improve performance and once the free trials end, it should get back to normal.

recent patch was good. This is such a different game to DaoC it takes a lot of getting used to! :)

Nah, doesn't matter much how many that are in your system. Rather how many total players there are, at peak times it can be slow to play with the lag. Saturdays and Sundays are definitely the worst.... totally unplayable. Just logged on now and playing some, is quite fine at the moment. It's an issue they need to fix asap, no doubt caused my the massive wave of newbie players (like myself) that happened when they introduced 14-day free trial.

where are you playing? Jita is like that and a few other systems. I am quite a bit away from there and I only get occassional lag at peak times while my corp mates are often stuck at a gate for 10mins.

A couple of the main hub systems such as Jita, Ours, etc will always be bad but these can cause lag to systems on the same node.

aye thats my understanding of it. Try undocking out of Marginis with 20 hostiles in local and all you have is teh blank screen of doom!!!

Anyway which corps do you guys play in? I spend more time in Eve than DaoC these days. It is a much more mature game but very harsh from time to time.

Stop defending the fucking system, you all know that the server is shit at peak times with the insane amounts of players. I just avoid playing at peak times now until they fix it.

Newbie question: I'm tempted by the free trial, but is Eve worth getting into if you'll only be playing ~10 hours a week? I'd like to get involved in some PvP, as last time I played all I ever managed to do was mine rocks. Not much fun, imo.

it take about 2 months to get into because to be serious you have to do all the learning books (these make a massive difference). As for PvP that is a whole different ball game. You need to only fly what you can afford to lose and you will lose it most likely so you have to be able to pay for your losses and thats what makes Eve a much tougher game than anything else.

The skills for the big ships can take some time to acquire. When you have them though your laughing as long as you can finance your PvP and take losses. As for doing that on 10 hours I am not so sure you can. The tohers probably have different experiences for me it has been a tough learning curve.

Since skills progress also when you are not online it works perfectly fine, although you need quite a few weeks to enjoy the really good things about EVE. Getting into a better ship, joining up with a good corp etc. As the game is fairly old and there are very many more experienced PvP players in much better / pimped up ships I doubt you get to that point that fast though.
