since putting winxp on my pc looks wat happens when im playing on a server, doesnt matter wat server, any server. I noticed it happens more during the weekends. im on freeserve hometime but i got told by another person i know that it used to happen to him on his adsl and it resulted in him going back to winme.

heres the screenshot

i can be playing normally and i just get chucked out into windows with this error showing. someone suggested it may be me getting packet bombed or something, if u know wat is causing this or know of some sort of fix please reply.

I've had this happen too in XP, but I'm 'fairly' sure it only happens when I hit my auto-2hr cut off period for dial-up? could be wrong tho...

So its probably down to an unstable connection or something?

Thats my guess anyway.

The same error appears on the console when you try to connect to something that doesnt exist, i find.

It is probably an unstable or crap connection that isn't letting packets get through, or get lost. It might be quitting due to the fact it thinks the server isnt their anymore, from the crap connection. Strange that it boots you out to windows with the message and doesn't just tell you in the console and disconnect you.

Other than that I dont know.

Manic miner might know, he is all wise.

Right click on the shortcut, go to properties, choose Compatability and set it to run as Windows 2000. That should sort it :)

What address are you connecting to?

Can you ping the server before attempting to connect?

What type of connection is it (modem/CM/ADSL?)

Who is your provider?

etc

yer, i only get it in winxp.

i find if i choose win2k mode the mouse if a bit less responsive, like say... if u were holding a long stick and u swung it left to right. the end is behind yer hands :p like that, ever so slightly behind.

o well if anyone has any other suggestions i would love to hear. also im on freeserve hometime. (modem)

no man no we r not runing any firewall or somerthing like that
at leaast me, i donno about him.,.
i double checked the connection for firewall but it was already disable. and i also did not install any sort of firewall like zonlabs or something like that.

i really got pissed off by xp so i moved back to win2ooo and its running fine. infact the single player mode is runner better than it used to run on xp.
