Was just wondering about a thing with Fraps..
Been playing around with the unregistred version (aka free thing with halfmode only), and it gives me terrible fps drops ingame when I activate it ..
I'm running a 3,06ghz p4, 1gb ram and a 256mb radeon 9600, so it shouldn't be the comp. ;)
Q: Is this only accuring(sp?) with the free version of Fraps, or does it lag like this always?

Thx ;)

what speed is your hard drive? as it has to write to HD on the fly it can lag that up quite a lot.

should be ok really mine is pretty much the same set up as yours, it does lag sometimes when you switch fraps on, unplayable running 2 accounts and fraps (in fact, often 1 account will crash) you should turn off things in-game like shadows and reduce your draw distance that may help a little.

I run a P4 2.8, 512DDR ram, 256 Radeon 9600.

I also have a registered version of fraps, I've found that the FPS drop noticably when you start recording, but the quality is pretty good though it will depend on how you set it up, i have mine on half size, 25 fps. There isnt really much noticable lag in the video that i noticed.

Writing that shear amount of data to your HDD will drop the FPS on any system. Unless you got really fast drives try using half-res recording at 1024 max. Also defragging can help a lot, but you dont really notice the drop in FPS when you watch the video. My shaman vid looks fine when you watch but recording it was around 5-9(!) fps in game :x
