Recommend free AV software

Are there any decent free AV programs out there ?

Currently using A-Squared for malware but need a program that will scan for trojans worms and viruses as my current AV prog just expired

I've been using avast! antivirus for a year or so with no problems, yeah it'll spam you about getting a license - but it's free(enter your email and they send a key thats valid for a year, then you just do it again).

What firewall would you use for that Osy ? Windows firewall ?

Windows Firewall should be fine. The standard setup of block everything unless you make an exception works well.

Windows Firewall is fine, unless you unblock blindly.

I would also add fliters for Netbios, but i'm paranoid like that.

avast! is great, cHoDaX got me onto it and i've used it ever since.


AVG Free is also a real good programme.
