As title, looking for a good motherboard, probably canterwood based if its the best, to run a P4 2.8gig Prescott core'd CPU.

Looking @ the Asus P4C800 really, dont need any posh edition mobos cuz I'm running old styleeee IDE kit and what not lol.

Any other recommendations? Dont need the fancy stuff remember, but want a solid, capable board with good OC'ing ability.

Also need a good but not OTT expensive or noisy cooler, any ideas?

Cheers :)

My only piece of advice would be to get the 2.8 Northwood (cheaper and it'll be slightly faster due to the shorter pipelines on the Northwood).

My 2p's ;)

And that cooler is basically the mutts nuts :D

It's a little heavy like, but is that really an issue :p

(by heavy I mean it's 773g to the recommended 450g or so)

I don't get how it is that heavy...
This Thermaltek jobbie is a block of copper as large as my fists, yet it's only 650g

Yet the zalman flower is heavier? Madness.

*ties weights to cpu to improve length*

Scrap that. That Zalman flower is huge!

Could happily use that to beat some puppies to death.

I was told you aren't meant to fit them onto Bartons.

*panics lots*

Na, fits fine onto the cpu, the Zalman site says it can go onto socket 462 motherboards, and it does! quite happily. Just read up on it's supported mobo list before you go buy it else you might find a few missing holes where the support arches are supposed to go :eek7:
