Reavers, how do you play the class?

Hey all! I was just wonderin how u play this class. Any info would be appreciated.

Solo =
DOT, engage, block chain, continue with chains if possible or unstyled. At 3/4 health use dd lifetap then repeat chains or unstyled till mob dead. Depending on area i use aoe only if i may lose fight or i get aggro on me.

Grp =
if not Main Assist i use side style chains, saving dd lifetap for getting aggro off healer, sorc, etc.

if main assist i dot then use unstyled hits, if aggro off me use side styles, if i keep aggro try usin solo techniques above.


Currently only level 36
Flex 34
Soul 34
Shield 15
Parry 1

aiming at 50 for
Flex 50
Shield 42
Soul 36
Parry 16?

Read a few guides and VGN boards, just wanted to see opinions from freddy's house. I can solo (as long as i dont get too many resists) oj now but lvl 36 tactics probably wont work at higher levels, so i just want some friendly info, no flames pls

I also read many people stun mob then use side styles but i found i was way too slow, do i just need to practice, or am i doing something wrong?

if you use face you can straf around the mob as soon as you stun it and land a side style, for behind styles, you wanna have face set to a kayboard key so you can run though mob and hit face,

Thought that you couldnt engage when the mob is damaged, so dot -> engage shouldnt work should it? And why do you use unstyled hits when MA, can better spam your anytime style...

i used to run through people and face with my scout, never thought of using that for the side too - smacks head at his own stupidity-

Well if u use DOt and time it right, u can engage in the space between the ticks. I think it is 8 secs for each tick so u can get 2 hits from dot if u pull from range and the mobs can be engaged in between the ticks.

I dont use anytime because all i have is the taunt and detaunt styles. Python style has an aoe reave spirit that interupts mezz and can pull more aggro. The taunts also use up my limited end and its not worth it for the low gains of those styles imho.

im 50 so i guess its a little different but generally solo i attack unstyled and only pull off block/parry chains, diamondback is a waste of end and until u get cobra (44 flex) do viper >> indigo >> indigo >> constricter that will take most of the mobs hp down

for grps do side styles back it up with boomslang (unless u plan on getting the aggro), guard main tank etc works well

Most has been said already. So I'll just add its not worth raising SR and dropping parry unless you've auto trained, so you can get 41SR. If no auto train then you gain nothing from 39 SR, so stick with 16parry. Is the spec I have at the moment.

guess you dont have a reaver, reavers dont have an anytime style, python is meant to be 1 but it uses 25% end and breaks mezz for very little damage, so its crap

if u got end u can spam it, but no reason to spam it as indigo take more agro(when not resisted) then diamondback.

One thing found quite useful on some mobs is dot and lifetap them then leg it a little way and by time get to you should be almost rdy to do that again. Found could kill a lot faster that way.

Think most common tictac is to slam levi as fast as posible

Would always keep either one of the DD or DoTs available for when you get adds, can maybe save you by interupting them 1 time

Crafted buckler probs best fastest swing time, quicker to get in more positional styles

Most ppl go for small shields it seems. But i stick with large. If you want a fast swing time and large shield, go for Great Cobalt Doomwarder, swings as fast as a small shield.
