Well, i've had a crack team of maths boffs, code breakers and Sanya locked in a room for the last week and this is what they came up with.

Factors involved:
- I'm on a budget, i currently have the worldy savings on alb of 10 plat.
- Despite this i'd like a fairly decent template,but i cba to farm crazy items like Imo ring, 5.10 stuff or any of the other things the "cap everything" templates have.

Drop shield for flex (or altogether, its pointless in fg rvr) and dont bother with piety cos your not a sr reaver, try not too use krojer dex ring and your belt sucks, use bos instead if on budget, its got alot more utility.

I'm sure that you will gte items anyway from the ML raids your running.

Be careful not to make any templates with low matter resists anymore people :)

Oh and if you can get some piety/soulrending it is good waok as it increases SQ damage! :)

41 SR is pretty "SR" imo :p
Nightpetal, how, im poor, have no decent items and the chances of me winning something on a ML raid is slim.

Soul Reaver template - resists aren't brilliant, but damage output should be pretty impressive with SR and Melee.

Would like some comments...thinking about using this on MY reaver...maybe without GoV coz I'm poor and lazy (and my reaver is a 100% PvE whore)

why is spirit so impotant? you got alot of spirit SM's on excal? im sure a reaver can deal with more then a few SM's even with low resists and cleric resists 16% so still have 20% with a enhance/rej cleric in group, i know valkries are spirit but dont do much damamge they magic is like skalds it looks like, any other classes that use spirit? spirit LW's maybe?

For your template you do not need +11 Soulrendering if you are a 50 soulrendering as your spec as it does nothing with the damage, only helps with resists, and try cap matter/cold/spirit/heat/body/melee resists before other resists as only caster with energy nuke is a Animists lifetap nuke, mainly cap them resists as more people using LW more often now and with Vampiirs to come soon am guessing they will use them to debuff there claw damage.

Sorry, I was unclear on my meaning above, I should have explained my reasons alittle more. I however am not the best at template making, I may even be the worst!, but atleast just hear me out!

NF nowadays as a reaver, is pretty much solo, duo or if your really lucky, a already high rr guild will use you in their setup. So solo/duo nowadays is more common than group. Recently I've been duoing with an ice wizz, and when it happens, we can fend off people quite well with our abilities in tower situations, either re-taking or defending. When it comes down to reaver, we have alot of options, that make it alot more difficult for us to maximise the utility throught a template, we have so many stats, but so few of them can be capped easily when cap increases and specs are thrown into place. Its alot easier too kit out a primary stealther than it is a tank, becuase certain things are not needed tobe taken into consideration.

As a reaver, I think a primary initial target should be maximising your frontload damage, reavers are all about initial impact and damage, we have low hps, low ws, and we have a problem with speccing becuase people bond too the idea of having slam as a must have for a reaver, which is why when I see 50 soul reavers, I get a warm feeling of respect for them, it takes guts and passion too spec in SR that high at the cost of defence.


+shield I think is useful for soloing, and so is SoM. If you plan on grouping, then don't bother trying to fit these items in, you waste far too much utility in your template using SoM.. I think SoM is like modern day slam, its not so much of a need, but more so a want 'cos people feel safe having the proc on all the time, but when there are much better items out there, you just need a little pateince and friends too help you get them.

If your gonna fit Piety into template, either shove 75 in, or dont bother at all.. alittle isnt going to make much of a difference! Its like RA's.. don't go halway, go all the way.. TWF3 for example is alot lot more better than TWF2.

Don't bother with +shield, but if your so worried about archer classes, then by all means drop piety too fit +shield in, but don't gimp your template fitting +shield in or +piety in if you dont plan on going +11 or +75.

My template so far is 97 STR 95 DEX 85 CON 85 QUI +11 Flex.
& resists I'm working on. No shield, No piety.

I'm a total gimp at templates, but I think I'm nearly done, so will post soon! ;-)

As far as resists go, I've often wondered about this. Is it worth sacrificing damage, increasing variance and lowering defence to cap resists?

If you have 26% spirit resist and you're hit for 400 damage by a nuke, then if you had 19% spirit resist you'd be hit (I think) for 428. What I usually find with casters is one of two things happens;

a) They remain uninterrupted and you die, since 5x400 and 5x428 are roughly similar and above the HP of most tanks.

b) They are interrupted and you survive. At this point, those extra 28/56/84 hit points are going to be less use (imo) than higher damage output, larger power-pool.

I certainly try to cap melee resists in my templates (for PvE as much as anything else) and also try to get to around 20% for magic/elemental resists. In general though, I'd rather cap con/hits/str/dex/shield/parry/flex/SR to increased frontload damage, passive defence (block parry), active defence (interrupts and LT) and survivability (HPs).

If all can be capped, then that's great, but if I have to sacrifice, I'd rather lose 5% resists than 5% damage output (as a tank anyway!)

I use Battler atm in other slot for the absorb but getting Spear of Kings as soon as i can for the 5% more hp/af, items are quiet hard to get and cost a bit.

but if you need help on a template Tild, just say what arti's you need and which stats u want and will try make it all capped which cheap items ^^

Band of shadow and Ring of torrent are quiet nice rings and cheaper then the rest that have been said.

Other requests:
I'd like a crafted shield, Im not keen on the looks of other ones and i like to be able to swap them around depending on if i have end or not.

You can do a nice setup for melee speed with Sun emerald(4), snake charmers(3), scalars(3), this counters Som's low utility and helps that there are some nice cloaks like FW which good stats.

I'd like str, con, dex, qui, pie and hits at the standard cap, the template will probably give a few + caps though. I'm not totally set on +25 cap for str and dex, but if the template gives +14 cap or whatever, get the stat up to that much.

Ideally i'd like flex and shield at or near cap, im not convinced however that I really need +18 soulrending though ;)
parry, if the items have it, its all good, but dont go out of your way to fit it into SCed parts.

Anyway, only thing likley to hurt is pbaoe SM's with that low spirit, and tbh if i'm not interupting them when we're in pbaoe range of each other, i deserve to die. :D

NF nowadays as a reaver, is pretty much solo, duo or if your really lucky, a already high rr guild will use you in their setup. So solo/duo nowadays is more common than group. Recently I've been duoing with an ice wizz, and when it happens, we can fend off people quite well with our abilities in tower situations, either re-taking or defending. When it comes down to reaver, we have alot of options, that make it alot more difficult for us to maximise the utility throught a template, we have so many stats, but so few of them can be capped easily when cap increases and specs are thrown into place. Its alot easier too kit out a primary stealther than it is a tank, becuase certain things are not needed tobe taken into consideration.

As a reaver, I think a primary initial target should be maximising your frontload damage, reavers are all about initial impact and damage, we have low hps, low ws, and we have a problem with speccing becuase people bond too the idea of having slam as a must have for a reaver, which is why when I see 50 soul reavers, I get a warm feeling of respect for them, it takes guts and passion too spec in SR that high at the cost of defence.


+shield I think is useful for soloing, and so is SoM. If you plan on grouping, then don't bother trying to fit these items in, you waste far too much utility in your template using SoM.. I think SoM is like modern day slam, its not so much of a need, but more so a want 'cos people feel safe having the proc on all the time, but when there are much better items out there, you just need a little pateince and friends too help you get them.

If your gonna fit Piety into template, either shove 75 in, or dont bother at all.. alittle isnt going to make much of a difference! Its like RA's.. don't go halway, go all the way.. TWF3 for example is alot lot more better than TWF2.

Don't bother with +shield, but if your so worried about archer classes, then by all means drop piety too fit +shield in, but don't gimp your template fitting +shield in or +piety in if you dont plan on going +11 or +75.

My template so far is 97 STR 95 DEX 85 CON 85 QUI +11 Flex.
& resists I'm working on. No shield, No piety.

I'm a total gimp at templates, but I think I'm nearly done, so will post soon! ;-)
Was that you I was constantly jumping front of bolg t3 :p? I almost get you both killed solo and then you pop DI or something on your bot >.>..
