Reaver Spec

Hello all,

I just made my self a reaver i heard some nice things about them and thought well lets make one my self.
I have been thinking about a good spec for it but i cant seem to convince my self.
Anny help would be very welcome i was thinking of 50 flex 36 soul 42 shield and rest in parry.
But would parry have anny effect ??? i was thinking mabye put the rest in slash or crush - im autotraining slash atm.
Lemme hear your thoughts please

Well, apart from "make a merc instead, for the love of god" all I can suggest is that you absolutely don't spec flex AND crush or slash. There'll just be no point. =) Parry isn't that great in RvR atm, I believe your chance to parry is supposed to drop in relation to the number of people hitting you, but instead of drops in relation to the number of people grouped with the person hitting you.

50 flex, 42 shield, 39 soulrending (and the few remaining points into parry) is a very good spec. Like LandShark said don't worry about parry, it's not worth speccing heavily into.

And certainly don't put anything into slash/crush, just wasted points tbh.

Why are they wasted points ?
The weapons have slash or crush dmg so should i raise those so the dmg differance wont be to high ?

No!!! No no no no no no no no no!

Flexible weapons do indeed come in 2 varieties, those that do slash and those that do crush damage but the ONLY spec that has any effect on flexible weapon damage is flex spec. It's not the same as polearms - speccing crush or slash has zero effect on your flex weapon damage or anything else. Flex spec is great for this reason - you get to choose if you want to use a flex weapon that does slash or crush damage whenever you want without having to spec into either slash or crush

Don't put *any* points into Crush or Slash or else you'll be gimping yourself badly!

There are 2 popular templates for Reavers on the US servers..

Flex.....50
SR.......50
Shield..23
Parry...rest

or

Flex.....50
SR.......36
Shield..42
Parry.....16 (19 with auto-train)

I'm going for the second one although i was tempted with a different one.....

Flex 50
SR 45
Shield 35
Parry rest

But it all depends on your playstyle and some people also swear by Slash instead of Flex <shrug>

I went for 50Flex, 42Shield, 36SR, 16Parry.

Parry isnt great, I seem to evade attacks more than i parry, but its still nice having that bit more defence.

I heard spells chance to hit will be based on lvl of spell and no longer lvl of spec(not sure if true), thats why I didnt take SR to 39 and also you get no more spells.

It is based on level of spell which makes any +SR items useless apart from damage variance which is'nt that great anyway.
