1UP have done an article coupling together recent facts and speculation on the PS3.
Most of it you'll have heard before but they include a list of games at the end with brief descriptions. Apparently Resident Evil 5 will be in the same vein as RE4. That's all the reason I need to get a PS3 :)

The reason I am getting the PS3 as opposed to jumping on the 360 bandwagon now is because the "Playstation" brand has always had more of the games I prefer to play ie. more quirky Japanese games.

Personally, I'd like to see Colossus remade for the PS3. I think it would look absolutely astonishing.

Well with all the reports of how much the PS3 costs to manufacture £900ish or was it $900? i think the price of a PS3 is going to be something of around £500 not really something im prepared to fork out for a console that will most likely have horrible games coming out for it.

Yes i know there is some really good games but the PS2 is the same 70% of the games for that machine are complete crap same goes with PS1.

Also another reason to not get one yet is developer kits are reported at being really expensive so that could put off people wanting to make games for it as the XBOX360/MS are really helpful to game developers and this attracts game developers.

Also last but not least is the all important question of are SONY going to make an online service like LIVE if not then i won't be buying it for sure as its the online part of games that keep you interested.

Of course the machine will sell well theres no question but ive never really been into playstation apart from the Metal Gear series.

With all the technology the machine has to offer there is going to be some crazy price tag.

Am sticking with 360 this time around.

Am sick to death of waiting 6 extra months for games in europe.
Am not going to import to deal with such incompetence.

Should just get rid of region locks.

Am also a much bigger fan of western developers than japanese.

i believe they have. I know they did on the psp, and i believe there was comment somewhere that the ps3 would also be free of region encoding on the games.

That's the same situation as with PS2/Xbox - but still people developed for it. It may be tougher/more expensive to make games for the PS3 but it's going to be much more popular so developers will want to make games for it. nuff said.

Were not missing out on anything.. were getting RE5 possibly before the PS3 and Rockstar seem reluctant to sign another deal that sees GTA on PS3 for a year before they make it for other consoles.

My point was, the PS3 will not suffer due to a lack of games.

PS3 delayed till Nov 2006 for Jap/US and March 2007 for EU according to reports out in the Japanese press yesterday. If so I can see X360 building a 10 million lead before PS3 makes it out the door and when it does it walks right into Halo 3. Sony have really dropped the ball.

6 million is a lot of PS3's, nearly twice as many Xbox 360's that have been sold since it's release. Think you've got a better chance of getting a PS3 on release than ya did with the 360.
