Really miffed off!

Well last night i got the dreaded 3 red lights of death on my 360 while playing Overlord. So i turned it off and let it cool down. Today it happens twice again while playing forza 2. So i decided to call microsoft and get it repaired.

I called at nine, and after 50 mins on hold i get some lady on the phone who promptly tells me that there systems are down and she cant help me. Now this realy got on my tits, i have been waiting 50 mins and because i get through at 10 mins to going home time, there systems are all of a sudden 'down'. I get pissed start demanding names and to speak to someone else, but ofc they have all gone home. She gives me her name, although i expect it to be made up, and i now have the joy of calling them again tomorrow!

Thank god it was a flipping freephone number or that would of realy pissed me off.

sorry wanted to rant, i would swap back to sony but i aint paying £400 for a flipping PS3.

What about taking it back to the shop you bought it from?

I bought mine from Asda and take it back every 6-8 months for a new one because you get another 12 month warranty on it.

Beats paying £80 odd quid when your warranty runs out.

it already has, its a launch 360 got it on release day. Fist problem ive had with it realy.

If there gunna demand £80 to fix a faulty batch of first gen 360s then i'll just cool it down a bit, take it to some retail game trading place and trade it for a ps3.

It works fine for 30 mins or so

If the Warranty has ran out expect a 'i'm sorry sir it will cost you £80 to repair your console'

I had a launch 360 and didn't have to pay a penny when my 3 lights came up in March, Microsoft were quite good in the end, mind you I only had to phone them up to confirm the collection and delivery details, did the complaining over e-mail.

In the end they sent me a new 360 instead of trying to repair mine, so I only had to wait a week before I owned a 360 again.

mine had same prob around the same time, i got charged £80 but good thing is the dvd drive is much silenter now

update on this.

Its £86 for the fix, a 20-25 working day wait for it to come back. And if it turns out to be the hard drive, they cant do anything and i'll have to buy a new one of them aswell.

This realy realy gets on my goat as my friends 360 died about 2 months back, and he got his fixed and back within 5 days for nothing. We got them both at the same time! Just i was actualy dumb enough to register my console with my profile so they could see it was out of its gurantee period.

Gunna try a blag and take it back to where i got it.

Do not pay, get back onto them and say you have been in touch with the BBC Watchdog program and then demand to speak to a supervisor.

It is going to cost them an extra billion dollars to put right but at least they intend to do the right thing at last, 3 year warranty for all

That is a global warranty by the way, just the announcement was made on the U.S. site.

Its nice too, this new one is quieter and displays 1080p

Erm..... The last one displayed 1080p as well, it's just a software update via Live.

You can only actually display 1080p if you have a TV that supports it over component or VGA though, very few tv's do. If you really want 1080p from a 360, then get the Elite when it comes out later this year.
