Ready for the rush?

If the assumptions are correct, and Prydwen Hibby gets /level 30, are you ready for the rush of players?

I had some characters on Pryd Hibby for a while, but found xping a soul destroying activity due to the relative lack of low level players kicking about.

So I started some Middy guys, and got them to 40. Unfortunately xping in Middy past 40 is Malmo (hell on earth) or trying to organise a group to go some place else. This can result in 3 hours on line for maybe 90 mins of xp time.

So I have some questions …

Having never got past lvl 15 with a character, and therefore never really ventured that far, is xping more balanced in Hibernia? Are there places to go 30 to 40 say, then 40 to 50 without endless “lists” or hours building groups?

Also, having two accounts, what are the best “duo” to play. Maybe a Druid and a Champion for example? I would welcome your input.

Alternatively, if I lose the bottle to kill all my Middy guys and end up with just one account in Hibby, what is the easiest character to level (I like to play in groups if possible, solo gets a little boring)?

Finally, guilds. I was a member of a couple of guilds who seemed to have problems recruiting (I was the only member on line most of the time). So what guilds are out there who can offer a home to an experienced DAoC player, if somewhat green in Hibby?

Thanks in advance for the input.

Regards

Ash

There's lists in Hib too at 40+ if you're the right class great, if not expect little chance of levelling fast.

Best combo IMO would be mana chanter and mana mentalist or bard and valewalker.

The lists at 40+ are for the 4 fins, the key to levelling 40+ here is one of two things, firstly either be proactive, ask people, start your own groups and have the patience to follow them through. Or, secondly, be very patient, I got my Druid, Animist and Enchanter to 50 from 40 all in a week by putting myself on fins 4 list when I got home, doing something else whilst waiting for spot, generally took about 2hrs to get a spot, then I'd stay in group for 4 - 6hrs on an evening after work and 12+ hours on a weekend. I couldn't have done this however if I'd been playing a tank or a stalker, you need to be an AE nuker of some sort or a support class (Bard, Druid, Warden) or mana mentalist.

If you solo'd to 40 with mana ment + chanter combo expect both chars to level 40+ fairly easily. If you did VW + Bard combo expect your bard to level 40+ fairly easily. VWs do at least, get soloing quite easily however.

Yes :)

30-40 tends to be Corus Mines for most people. I have never had any major problems getting groups in there as there are usually quite a few people running around either at the entrance, or in the pit, looking for others.

40+ traditionally was the Cursed Forest and the dreaded 4 fins list. This has been completely taken over by focus pulling chanters, their buffers/healers and their PL friends and has caused a lot of arguments/bad feeling in Hib generally.
However there are plenty of other good spots to XP in the 40+ range now (Bog, Sheeroe, SI) and there are quite a few people roaming these areas to get groups again now. Over the last few weeks have found it relatively easy to find some traditional tank/healer/caster groups that don't rely on focus pulling
So you can sit on the fins list all day, or spend a little bit of time finding/forming a group elsewhere and having more fun.

advice.

dont go anywhere near Cursed TM forest.....

instead go SI, bind in Necht or Aalid Feie and kill stuff nearby.

if you feel strong enough, you can try Tur Suil dungeon (near Aalid Feie) or even the Fomorians just outside of dungeon entrance, or Fomor (near Aalid Feie too).

The CF list is absolute Hell on Earth. It is an utterly corrupt, infuriating and soul destroying process. Stay away from CF at all costs.

I take my Druid on Formor and TS raids whenever possible now. It's far more dangerous, the drops suck (because you have to roll - at least in CF the Firebrands are yours), but it's great fun, and far better than repeatedly chain healing a pet.

The good thing is that there seems to be a Formor or TS raid almost every night at the moment.

As for your duo, I can wholly recommend a Druid/Champion, or Bard/Champion combo. A Mana Chanter/Bard is good also.

And forget Mid - Hib is far prettier :)

Well I hope all realms on english servers get /level 30 command, might attract even more english players, and we have a long way to go before we are more than the germans and french. Goa can at the sametime lock the german/french accounts out form english servers until they pass a english test :D Well same could go for all on our servers.

Not much point - /level can only encourage people who already play and have a level 50 to shift servers, it can't bring in new blood. If GOA want more people on the english servers, they need to actually market the game a bit better (I didn't see one magazine advert for it in a UK games magazine until SI was released) and add a third english server - because a good many UK players have gone and got US accounts instead so they can play all 3 realms on english-speaking servers.
