Reading (ph: redding) Festival Thoughts

I had a wicked time, saw some awesome bands. The Darkness, even though I am not a big fan, were probably the most intense act, with a spectacular stage presence and superb playing. The atmosphere was electric.

A7X were sweet, as were Placebo, Green Day, Razorlite etc - too many to list.

And getting both the Rasmus and 50 cent booed off stage after 1 song each was priceless.

Here's to next year!

Missed all that lot as I was working in the Radio 1 tent, but seen them all before so I don't really mind - although seeing the Darkness as headliners would have been cool. The only band I regret having missed was A7X who I'd have liked to check out.

Saw Supergrass, Soulwax, Super Furry Animals [while hard at work...] and Dropkick Murphys who I've been wanting to see for a while which was cool, and also discovered myself a few new bands due to being "forced" to watch them, like British Sea Power. Best job I ever had really, except I didn't get paid, other than in free food .

Wasnt exactly Reading but was a Tenants gig on in Belfast with:

The Darkness, Ash, Jurassic 5, No Answer, Goldie Looking Chain, and two other bands, one being hip hop the other being a Metal band that had a 13 year old singer (they sucked lol).

Brilliant atmosphere, The Darkness and Ash both putting on the best preformences of the night with No Answer in 3rd. The other bands I didnt really like.

And damn is it warm up the front!

Would like to get to Reading in years to come, would love to see Green Day in concert and Placebo!

i was in Reading over that weekend and i must say i had no compulsion to hop the fnce, i looked up the band listing and it was a pile of shite.

I do approve of "fiddy" gettin bottled+bood off tho, thats possibly the only reason i would have gone, to join in and throw heavy things at that piece of shit

It depends on your taste in music. Reading is an alternative music festival, and for that it is brilliant.

Performances from those such as Ash, Placebo, Greendy, Avenged Sevenfold, Alexisonfire, Thursday, Funeral for a Friend etc were superb, top notch. However if you don't like the style of music then it won't be to your approval.

The best performance both technically and re: contact with the audience was The Darkness. Yes, they are posers - they are a gimmicky band, but they are skilled players. They played tight, well above par and to a level that everyone in the audience could connect on. I am not a huge Darkness fan, but credit to them for performing so well. They deserve great respect for coming from playing my union (I did the monitors sound) to headlining the Reading Festival after just over a year.

i was at leeds and it really kicked ass... enjoyed it very much so i tapped 50 cent on the back and watched llyod banks get bottled to fuck missed out on getting his hoodie that he threw at the crowd .. tapped the singer of thursday!!!.. got crushed to fuck in green day which was truely awsome!!!! got the autograph off ffaf which i was quite chuffed about saw dizzy rascal kick ass as i took drags from spliffs that place was truely a hot house :d.. the darkness suxed so much ass its untrue.. i took sum fucked up drugs was stoned every day and semi drunk
