I was just wondering:

If i burn a 16x CD, will it read the CD at 40x (the speed on my drive), or just 16x?

I apologise for being so dumb :(

Heh, it'll read at the drives max read speed.

It's slower writing because it has to ensure the data being copied is correct etc.

:D

minimum. it depends on the type of drive. your plextor40 may be called a 40max...like mine.

It is called a 40 max, i have no probs writing at 24x though due to the burn proof malarky, takes about 3.30 mins to do a full 80min cd, the reader has trouble reading certain cd-r's sometimes such as Mirror or datasafe, but i wouldn't swap it for nowt:D

to be 100% safe you could consider restraining your urge to burn at 16x......specially on a sunday with only one cdrw left ;)
