As of monday i might well be on 24 hour call for work, 7 days a week.

That's on top of the normal 50 hour week I work...

I am so not happy about this..........

I'm going to be asking for a 25-35 percent payrise in a couple of months, if they don't pay it i move on. The job is actually quite good, even though the pay sucks atm.

It shouldn't be too bad, this is theoretical support and i'm reserving the right to tell the users to fuck right off if it's not a total emergency.

but I'm not going to keep doing this level of work and responsibility for under 30k a year.

+ most uk firms just ignore the working time directive anyway.

At the moment I'm only on 25k a year though, when if I was doing this job elsewhere i'd be on up to 50k. I worked out my hourly rate the other day. Under 9pounds an hour on average.. Which seems like a lot, but with 6 years high level it experience it blows.

The + side is I like the company and they let me work the way I want to work, but i have debts to pay off and therefore need moolah

I know i'm being underpaid.

My official title is IT operations manager, although my role is all levels of soft/hardware support, coms support, network support and telecoms support, + buying, implimentation and planning. Basically all levels of support. Currently working for a smallish stockbrokers.

I know I should be on over 30k at the momenr for the job, i'm going to be asking for at least a 25 percent payrise in the next few months else i'm walking.

I've been in rather an unfortunate situation being made redundant from my last 2 jobs meaning i've had to keep working for essentially the same salary for the last 3 or 4 years, but i'm not at the point where it's unfeasable.

Im so not looking forward to when i have to go out into the big wide world and have to make money

i like being at uni - ok some work is hard but at least i get to wear what clothes i want, and go to whatever lectures i want

Downside is, no money for going to uni


just thinking about that, kinda major downside
