I think the next version of NS should include instructions on the console as you log in. Something like 'FOLLOW YOUR F**KING ORDERS' would do nicely.

I am so fed up of marines who join, thinking they are playing TFC ffs. The next person that asks for HA and HMG while ignoring waypoints will get a bloody turret factory dropped on their head.

It would help if NS had a proper manual with it. The current documentation is pathetic, especially on how to play as the commander.

And the only way to learn how to play as commander is to join a populated server, and get flamed while you work out what everything does. (If you start a LAN game on your own, the commander functions don't work)

As a result, in all the games I've played, I've yet to see the Marines win a match, because there are extremely few good commanders, because they don't get a chance to learn stuff.

And they recommend starting as Marines first, which they shouldn't. They should start off as a spectator first, so they can at least work out the layout of the maps.

Also, people are taking this game way too seriously. Most games are nothing but a bitchfest.

Yeah.. thats pretty much why i dont like it.. perhaps if the help files and stuff where *more* helpful, id like it.

I didnt like when i played Marine/Commander.. the way i was told to rush at an early stage in its release.. i didnt know what to do.

So, you either hand over the position to someone else and not learn anything, or rush and still not learn anything.

Plus i dont think some people like the Marines Turret which fires thru walls (Bungle maybe?)

I'll wait for new releases before i tempt fate again playing it

I think you mean the Siege cannon, apparently its a sonic weapon so walls dont matter. Which i personally think is bollucks. Once the marines get these then the aliens are screwed.

I have to agree that people should listen to the commander more.
Its way too stressful playing Commander on a public server so i just tend to stick as a marine and do as i am told.

But Aliens are more fun :D

Thing is without the siege gun there's nothing to stop the aliens from completely dominating the map with def and off towers.

Remember the resource points are cumulative for the marines - whilst each individual alien gets their own resource points.

Siege guns are there to stop endless gorge towers right outside your base.

And anyways, marines have to research them first. A good alien team perhaps would be able to secure all three hives by then ;)

And once you have Onos, it's GAME OVER MAN.

The siege turrets only attack structures, and not aliens (although if you're unlucky enough to be stood next to the structure being attacked, you're gonna be hurt bad). Siege turrets are a pain, but so are 5 defense towers with 3 offense towers, and a couple of fades using them. Siege Turrets have a limited range anyway.

The whole point of the game is that the aliens can work independantly, whereas without a good commander, and good teamwork, the frontiermen are STUFFED.
