ranger weapons.. oppinions¿?

just want to hear different views, as i have cold/heat/spirit LWs, fang, croc dagger, golden spear, belt of sun. but still cant make up my mind about which one would be best..

thinking of fang + sun weapon in offhand (is fang dot energy? cant remember ), mainly because LWs are sooo boring

Golden spear is a lovely artifact, but of course the big range of resists on it doesnt help when making a template - Rangers get shafted when yer wielding a bow though. So if you dont tend to get jumped when shooting... But damn those javelins rock Similar for NS's, if the GS isnt going to be used as a PA weapon.

Traitors dagger is horrible for templates, but of course the mists and shadeform is nice.

The shadow dagger created by croc tooth looks pretty decent, with all the artifact and template problems you can hope folk dont max out spirit resists..

Legendaries...well not much point until we get the new versions, as far as I know current legendaries wont get upgraded - you will need to make new ones. +28 con wont be helping when you switch weapons (assuming you do use more than 2...). Plus they look bad. Looks > all

Personally going for Golden spear and a crafted weapon, with Traitors in 2h slot for shadeform. This is for a Ranger though, my NS is slash spec - malice + battler ftw (when I get around to getting them)

stats are real bad for all weaps really. as a ranger you want

+ pierce and +cd and Str only on melee weapons

and +RB only on bow

Any other stats that these on the weapon and u have to match it across bow or melee weapons. This creates duplication.

This was made 100 times worse with con stat on weapons that u loose completely for a split second when u switched meaning u had to ignore it and cap it on armour.

Dex on LW is a slight improvement.

HP cap and the duff DPS and stats on traitors really piss me off. The traitors proc is fantastic but in no way overpowered (considering all the other artifact weapon procs , erm malice, GS javlines etc) They went and nerfed Traitors too much. Its still viable though. im using it at the moment in offhand with h/c LW. works well.

TBH though duel leggies are the best. and if u wanna be sneaky go for matter/spirit instead and see how many newbs out there have neglected those stats.

tbh though duel leggies is prolly the way to go. with GS as a leech tool.

Battler malice combo for CS specced bladeNS though would be nice.

But as a ranger I like having DB as a means to use FZ when I get jumped by an assasin. Its another get out of jail card that stacks with IP, Purge, AP and PhaseShift. And tbh when MOS comes and SH goes archers I think are gonna be above assasin inthe food chain for the first time in years.

been running around with cold/heat lw as main hand and traitors in offhand, its just perfect.

if ur lucky with procs then u get like 4 mists and win a fight with 100% HPs left.
been thinking bout switching to GS, but aslong as i see this setup working i won't bother with getting a new arti and lvling it.

the low dps on traitors ain't realy a problem tbh i still get decent dmg from it

Ok, if im gonna be bothered to exp the croc tooth dagger, im gonna go with that and golden spear. because im battlemaster at the moment, and will concentrate on grouping with other rangers.. grapple, shoot etc . my template atm got gov, scalars instead of the more typical gsv/marishas, and thus focusing on melee (will have 10% melee speed/style dmg/dmg, 10 pierce but no archery bonuses).

thought is to be bodyguard for rangers that have a more sniper spec/template, and with ip/purge and AP in a while i think it can be very viable, even tho not so good when solo

Remember that in NF archers is the best class if they bow speced.
check most rp / week on us servers, archers is in the lead.
Basicly as a archer you will go from keep/tower to next keep/tower, shooting volleing without ever getting hurt..
