Ranger respec : Please Assist

Going to respec Rahv a bit
Atm I have

46 + 11 Recurce
22+ 12 Blades
34+ 4 Stealth
40 + 2 Pathfinding
21 + 5 CD

I want to put more points into Blades and CD so i can do more melee dam cos of those pesky infils and Sbs always annoying me.
Recurve is my main problem, lotta points in there but i dont want to nerf my damage and I want to keep PF at 40 for 2nd last dex buff. Stealth im gonan knock to 30 or so

So opinions on Recurve please

The difference in damage between 40 and 50 bow is only about 5% so any higher than 40 is really a waste.

Seems to be this massive trend in Rangers going for hi tank skills as most are forced to grp...

As always spec acording to how you wanna play...

remeber any skill line is optimum (with regards to effect in proportion to points spent) at roughly 2/3 spec...

Even a Ranger with full points in blade/poke and CD and PF specc is still pretty feeble in Melee...

You should be doing all your killing with the bow, and using melee when absolutly forced to do so.... (and yes that means breifly stealthing in grp RVR to avoid the enemy targetting you first and denying you the chance to let rip with the arrows)

Im still clinging on to my orignal specc.... granted it has a tad to much stealth but the difference to my melee performance is neligable...

As long as you balance your specc you will be fine....

With the incoming Assasisn nerf my original Solo Ranger spec is starting to look so much more apealing......

OR then I go for the above with:
19 stealth
17 CD
46 PF

Don't know yet The latter gives better DPS but how low can stealth be...

There are many ways to look at this really ...

Patthfinding is realyl a waste of points if u intend on grouping alot. Only useful thing there would be the self dmg add.

by speccing 46 path u get a nice damage add , but gimp yourself as a ranger in most other repsects.

Camo REALLY does help alot, although speccing high steatlh u will either have to gimp your CD/poke/bow.

2 specs which i realyl considered ...

Grouping ranger. ( excellent melee, and bow )
30 stealth - with decent RR u can still knock alot of arrows normal/crit without destealthing .) useful at keep takes / defences
39 poke - strong melee - blades u get fire/spectrum.
40 bow - with just epic jewel/ gloves u have 50 bow with RR5
36 pathfind - good dmg add, second best
22cd - all the points that are left - this spec also wastes 0 points

Solo/group Ranger ( just check points - not 100% sure )
28 stealth
39 poke
39 bow
40 path - only change here really is higher dex /quick.
16 cd


I went with the top spec. It pwnz for me anyways.

dunno for sure but i thing think spec could be hard when u low in RR. i play lots solo, and i works ok for me, and as i get higher in RR i keep getting better, as i dont have bow pierc at 50 atm but TD's spec's are also nice, and i know he tested his on gorre

The way I see this, I am grouped a lot, I don't need the dex, sure the weapdam add would be nice but my weaps swing too quick to fully utilise it.

Stealth:

Aha..too low and you will find it sucks. You might aswell not even use it
Too high and you're gimping yourself, stealth although buggered is still v useful.

Without stealth items: 35
With stealth items: Up to 46

CD:

Rocks, rocks, rocks. If rangers had 2.5x spec points i'd get more cd


Depends how you want to play really but with 51-55 blades, evade 3, dodger 2 and mop soon+resists, rangers do hurt in melee, ask the other realms

This template is geared towards either a grouped ranger (even if only a duo) or a solo ranger with a buffbot.

My target spec at lvl 50 is: -

Recurve Bow 39
Pathfinding 36
Blades 39
Celtic Duel 28
Stealth 21 (opps 26)

Being a Celt, Blades I think is a better option… little more str and con… but slightly slower Bow!

The stealth high or low discussion continues. But personally high stealth is no defence any more due to See Hidden (even with Camo). Useful imho, to have some stealth for RvR and stopping getting targeted early in fights. Better to have decent melee skills to at least try and survive when jumped. That combined with +recurve items, Relam rank bonus’s and the soon to be implemented alchemy for player made items, means I’d expect to max recurve bow as high as it can go from 39.

So I think template above will eventually result in max Recurve bow damage and pretty decent melee skills!

Seems me and Tdear are going the same direction.

sb and infs are getting ganked by rangers with high pf how cos we still get to use ip while they dont.. so now they have to think twice about jumping us btw high(40ish) cd really does up ya damage alot
