Well, stealth is getting completely nerfed for rangers in the next patch apparently (/cry @ my lvl40 ranger) so people dont seem to be bothering putting loads into stealth anymore.

Suggest u keep Recurve maxed or very close to lvl until u hit 40 and then decide for yourself whether u want to keep it up or not depending on what +recurve items u have... personally I'll take my recurve to 45 I think when I'm 50.

If u want u want to be a real hardhitter, keep recurve and pathfinding high, or keep recurve highish, some pathfinding (upto 29 or so) and dump lots in piercing and some in cd for a good all round ranger.

There are so many different opinions on how to spec a ranger, so its hard to decide how to spec...

I would only take stealth to 25 or 30 and pump more in weapon spec, but my ranger is going blades :)

Stealth wont matter to much when we get Realm Abilitys, (Damn See Hidden! ) But Without that in mind, i Would have 36 stealth,. Not to sure about the other specs though :)

something people seem to forget, it's easier to get past high lvl aggro and realm patrols with higher stealth, so if you like exploring, or killing deep in enemy territory then stealth is totally viable, and with all due respect see hidden doesnt bother me even slightly, it's only assassin classes that get it anyway, and you dont meet many of those at all in comparison to the numbers of "normal" classes.

this is especiall true if you like attacking at enemy border gates.

besides, assassins already have detect hidden, simple fact is that there isnt TOO much you can do to assure assassins dont see you other than backing off a hell of a long way, if they know your general direction they will be able to track you down anyway, see hidden doesnt really change that, it just makes it less frustrating for them whilst theyre doing it.

personally i think see hidden is overrated, i think people are just overreacting a bit and thinking that it means that their stealth will ALLWAYS be useless :( not the case because:

one, only assassin classes can use them, not as many of them around by any means compared to other classes. so most of your hunting wont even start to have this issue in there due to the only classes which can use it, not being present.

two, they must actually have the damn thing bought in the first place (which they will when they get chance, but many you meet wont have had chance yet)

three, it's on a timer, which means that there's a good enough chance it's not running when your there. they may have used it already, or if they dont know your there they're not likely to snap it on randomly just to check... not when they may need it a few minuits later.

four, we get camo, which means that we will still be able to scout regardless of see hidden. and stealth IS very handy for scouting, or just moving through an enemy rich area. so if your not actively attacking at the time then see hidden is useless against you. (i know, camo is on a ten minuit timer, but that's only the same as your run spell, that certainly seems to recharge fast enough so this should be fine. although i think three minuits would suit better considering what it's used for).

five, you need high enough stealth to actually move while stealthed, you'll barely be able to walk while stealthed if you have only 10 stealth at lvl 50, this is important enough considering just how slow it get's at lowest spec versus your lvl.

just dont write ranger stealth off because assassins can sometimes see you at any distance regardless of stealth, they wont allways be assassins, they wont allways have see hidden, and they wont allways have seehidden running when your there, it's only PART of the game that you end up in that situation, personally i'm taking stealth to 30 spec, then getting it up to at least 40 with items and rank bonuses.

taking bow to 40, boosting it again with rank and items.

taking path to 30 since after then your putting more points in for far less returnes since they nerfed pathfinding.

pierce to 40 for decent meelee.

celtic duel to 28 for augumenting my pierce.

then there'll be item bonuses and rank bonuses on top, but i'll just take those as they come and see what it does to my template as i progress. other than those which i'm actually planning for, such as the bow and stealth one's of course.

My intended spec:

45 recurve
36 path
30 stealth
and if i remember correctly 36 pierce

With that spec i get max recurve with realm rank, have a good buff, reasonable stealth and a full combo of styles to use in combat
