Random Crashing

Bah, this has started happening today, what happens is, every now and then when a Game finishes and its going onto a New Map, an "Illegal Operation" Message will pop up, and my Monitor will turn Black'ish, then my Computer will sound like its Processing loads of Data. It stays in that mode for about a minute (By this time im pressing Buttons etc).

So, then it goes back to Windows, so i try and reload CS again, but it gives me this..:

The only way i have found to fix this, is to Reset my Computer , but i dont want to do that if you know what i mean.


I checked EventViewer and the Dr. Watson thing said this about the Error...

I havent done anything to my CS Config, so i dont understand why its giving me this error.

I just type retry in the console when it does that and it connects.

uninstall hl, delete the entire directory, then reinstall. You'd be surprised how much faster cs works. For instance, since I did this the other day, gunshots are muffled at a distance (it never did that before).

reinstall the whole shebang, I used to get illegal operations on closing CS, I tried reinstalling just HL+CS, but to no avail.

I was on crappy ME at the time, now running XP Pro and it hasnt died once.

did you delete the hl directory before reinstalling?

It was a Clean install of Win2000
