Has anybody sat their PTS (Personal Track Safety) course to work on the rails? Any experience working on them?

Off shore dream went out the window when i got told it's near impossible to get on, and i know a high guy!

Just wanna know a decent place to sit the course, an average price etc.

I have googled it, but would like somebody elses opinion. Thankssssss

Ello more a reader than poster but thought Id drop a line!

Done it 3 or 4 times as part of the next course up, IWA, but mine ran out about 4yrs ago. Did all my training in London.

Im sure its about £100, most track courses cost approx 100 per day of the course.

I think you also require a medical and a drugs and alcohol before you can go on the course - both of which also cost money.

Also I dont think you can just book yourself onto a course - Im sure you had to be 'sponsored' by an employer.

did my pts in eastleigh but its now lapsed as our depot decided that we only needed depot training due to us not doing any mainline or outstations.as adrianicus said im pretty sure you need sponsoring for the course.

work wise are you trying for permanent way maint or actual rolling stock maint?

so i've heard......
