youre rright about the bullshit bit. when edgar davids was at spurs him and robbie keane had a spat, davids asked him out side for a fight and keane floored him with one punch:)

Aye I read about that. Apparently Keane was a very good amateur boxer, it made me piss myself :D

I was waiting for that. Some people seem to think that the Premiership has somehow reset the scores for league wins. I'm forever hearing Manc fans saying "yeah, but you've never won the premiership"... like it's some "special" trophy that's better than winning the league.

It doesn't matter what it's fucking called. It's the top division. And yep, Norwich never won it but that's hardly the point and I think you know it :p

:)

It does matter what it's called because it was a different competition created for a reason. It wasn't as simple as a re-branding. Much the same as the Champions League is not the European Cup. Completely different competitions replaced other ones.

The Premiership was supposed to quite different from the old first division, but it didn't actually work out that way; the big difference was that it was only supposed to have 18 teams; the theory being that it would result in fewer games giving more time for the national team to train (amongst other things). The reality was what we see now, even more games for the big teams thanks to the Champion's League. I don't think it would have made any difference if they'd kept the old Football league format; television money would still have come along and power and money would still have become concentrated amongst a smaller group of elite teams.

You really are dense. The European Champions League replaced the European Cup as the highest reputation European club competition. The Champions Cup was a cup knockout competition, much in the same way the F.A. Cup is. The Champions League is a completely different format that is played entirely differently. The European Cup never had group stages. They are totally different competitions, all it is is that one replaced the other and Liverpool have won the top European competition 5 times. Why do people say they've won the European Cup 5 times? Simply because it's a lot easier than explaining all this lot to people like you that totally fail to grasp the difference between two things.

the fa cup final used to be replayed if it was a draw now its extra time and penalies, guess they better rename that aswell as it must be an entirely differnt competition? :wanker:

tournaments change with the times

the uefa cup used to be pure knock out over 2 legs now that has group stages but its still the uefa cup

and the champions leauge is still the european cup, just a different name, its still the same trophie afaik (well a replica as liverpool now keep the original)

Those railing against the premiership/we because only 4 clubs have a shot are a bit spastic.

Look at other european countries where only 1 or perhaps 2 clubs have dominated the last decade or two, at least we have FOUR clubs that can compete for the top spot rather than one that wins 90% except when some freak statistical anomaly occurs and they lose a season.

Exactly. Look at the Scottish "Premiership". Only really been 2 teams up there for fucking YEARS.

They are, all clubs do it, some are just worse than others. Rafa seems able to piss off other teams more than even Calderon at Madrid, and that is an achievement. He really just does not seem to think before he acts. He would have probably got Keane anyway without all this bullshit.
