Radeon 9600xt

Now available on pre-order from overclockers. £140 including a vouhcer for HL2 when its released. Quite a reasonable price I think, just got to wait for tests and reviews of the damned thing now.

Core and memory speeds listed on the Asus site for this card are much higher than the 9600 pro.

Our current tests put it 22-24% quicker than the 9600 Pro, not bad at all really

It's in essence just a black diamond process version of the same GPU to give them a clock speed bump - there's little else for £140 which will touch it.

It certainly doesn't outperform a 9700 pro as was mooted before. Firingsquad has benchies as did Toms iirc.

www.tomshardware.com seems to think it aint much better than the 9600pro

It doesn't have to be much better at that price though. With the smartfan and smart occing features + a free copy of hl2 (on release) its not that much more costly than a 9600 pro.
