Anyone playing with such GPU (9000, 9500, 9500 Pro, 9700 & 9700 Pro) on WXP Pro ?

If so, what drivers do you use. Do you experience any crash etc ?

Thanks for your replies.

Yep I do and yes I have. What I have done though is go into the advanced display properties and turned down hardware acceleration a notch and it seems a bit more stable now.

Hope that helps

Does it means that : with an ATI Radeon 9700 Pro, you have experienced crash etc.
The game is not fluid, you get bad lag spikes etc.

Need some more details please

I keep freezing after a time playing any game with a 9700 pro, and a SiS 648 chipset mobo, with XP Pro.

I have done a few formats and more driver changes than I can count, in frustration. I've tried, DX 8.1 and 9, Catalyst 2.3, 2.4, 2.5 and 3.0. I've tried running at 4x and 8x AGP.
The card does get hot real quick, so make sure it's not a heat problem.

Anyone got any other suggestions?

I have made a previous thread in fact globaly on ATI subject, you might find some interesting tips out there.

The problem seems to be related to BIOS handling upon the graphical processor, but not 100% sure tho.

Some didnt experienced any problem at all with ATI (like me with my All in Wonder 128), but couldnt get att all DAoC working with a Radeon 7500. Go figure :(

My old card was a cheap as chips 7500 LE, and it worked fine, no hangups at all. Horribly slow card though, so the strain started to show in FPS'es and DAoC at 1024 rez. Main reason that I went for the 9700 pro... (*fume about the 9500 modding*)

It worked fine with my 4x agp intel mobo (at work, can't remember the model number) and as soon as I switch to a 648 chipset one, it hangs every 10 minutes... getting really annoyed with it now, as I can't figure out how to stop it :(

I think its more related to motherboard chipsets then drivers guys.

All hang problems occur on non-intel stuff (intel chipsets or self-made motherboards with intel chipset, like DELL, HP or IBM).

its the xp error report thing that says the problem is gfx card driver related, it suggests downloading new ones..

i got asus motherboard (p4s8x), that the problem?

i appriciate the help btw :)

I doubt youd egt a reply from ATI about such issue, but you can still try a call on their boards.

Otherwise you might try different drivers, such as the one suggested upper.
Whats the chipset on your ASUS motherboard ? It could also get along with my theory, non-intel chips doesnt work well with ATI products.

Radeon

I also have this problem. I recently built a 2.5GHz P4, SIS 648 Mobo and Radeon 9500. I now get the stuttering lag and it appears that initially the game runs fine, the further I venture around the game the more frequent the stutters become until it becomes almost unplayable.

Another thing I have noticed is that when you zone, enter Camelot for example, the stuttering lag seems to reset and I have to w8 again for the lag to commence.

I am also very certain that this did not occur before patch 1.54.

Have tried all the drivers, bios setting, screen resolutions and still get this stuttering lag.

Am gonna borrow a friends GeForce4 Ti-4600 in the next few days. Will let you know how I get on.

Also it appears that the 9000 Pros do not get this lag either.

I really beleive this is DAoC programming fault as opposed to an Ati / Chipset fault as all my other games work fine.

Ok I got my new PC and am currently using ATI Radeon 9700 Pro 128 Mb DDR.

I must say that .. it rocks

- no lag, deep detailled textures, no more stick loss while climbing hills, nice RvR fluidity despite then 8 fgs that were at mmg last night -

But :
This goes with latest DELL drivers for this card
This card is a real ATI not a bundle from Hercules etc.
The chipset on motherboard is an Intel'one

Windows XP , athlon 2200+ , 512 DDR333 mem , 9700 Pro
Gigabyte mobo
NP anymore running 24 x 7 and lots of time in doac
not rebooted for last 12 days now

If you suffer sudden lockups etc and you have around the latest drivers then you could try and look if you can get another powersupply the latest gfx card use up so much power
and most powersupps say they are 350W but with you pull out 300W it is running on the edge , you get instable system
espeacial if u use a 3d game for some hours.
or run 3d mark for the night when you sleep
when you wake up and it is still running it has to be something else then drivers/hardware and should be the software.
doac is not the most stable one to run for hours we all know the rellogging tings cause youre fps is like 1
but the power supply worked for me , had the problem already with gf4 brought enermax and cut down in noise also ;)
