What is this guy who openly admits to having it to track down rader users useing then?

Somehow it must be posible or what?

well, from what I've heard radars are packet sniffers, which means that they don't change any of the data going from your pc to the server and back. This means that it would be impossible to trace from the server side.

One way to solve it would be to encrypt the data going around or use quantum cryptography so the server can tell if someone has been sniffing the packets.

Both of the above would probably cause huge lag problems tho =/.

mythic could not do anything against it since such a program would be client based (running as a seperate process on the client machine) and therefore not detectable. It merely had to fully interpret the incoming datastream since the client gets more data (location information etc) than it actually uses (in simple terms: the client knows more user locations than those within clip range).
As for the encryption: quantum cryptography does not exist yet in practice - standard encryption would not change a lot: you could let the client decrypt the stream for you and use the unencrypted stream afterwards or you disassemble the part which does the encryption and build it into the radar program - either way it would be only a little handicap which would however have negative effects on the performance - so Mythic won't introduce encryption.
Let's face it: no online game is 100% secure from hacks - you just have to rely on the fact that (the vast majority of) people dont use them.

Well i heard that Mythic/goa do actions against radar users , if they suspect anyone using radar they place NPC:s or chars which gives signal on radar on strange places, if they keep finding those its pretty obvious they use radar.

It isn't detectable but there are evidence gathering techniques that can be used to give good indication of radar use - basically similar to what Leorin said.

there is 3 different radar progs, which 1 of them is detecable, 2 of them aint.

so as long as u use undectabl radar, and when mythic asks why and how and etcetc u went that spot or moved like that ( they have some dudes checking how peeps move) and if explaining of that action is "true" then they cant do shit.

only way to know if peeps r using those 2 undetectable proggys r to use theirself.

and it has to running on other comp etc etc

1 is linux based and 1 is windows based.

thats my knowledge from those proggy, and been consulted that info from isuelt server usa.

i hate those cheats more what make u invureable , hit more with dmg, but usually those r 1st person shooter game probs.

or like in UO, speed hack, and some others.

as said many times before, online games will have cheats as long they r client based, when they r server based, cheating in online game will reduce.

Can't believe there are people out there who don't believe radars exist.
For any who missed it:

http://

Moderators - don't remove, its important that people realise that there are radar users, and developers who create this kind of thing.

As far as I know, its very difficult to get it up and running, as you need to be some kind of Linux Guru to compile the proggy, etc.
This limits the number of probable users imo.

DG

Whether people know of them or not, we still don't want them linked here ta. For the record it did appear to be a valid 'radar' program - Brinx
