Race respec - thoughts.

This would rock, and it wouldn't be silly or overpowered or unbalancing or anything like that..

At some certain patch, all characters are granted the option to chose a new class (from e.g. Highlander Minstrel to Briton Minstrel) and also maybe chose starting statpoints over again.. this would help out all Avalonian Paladins loads, and those who would for example go a thrust-race isntead of slash-race (Saracen/Highlander), or if you simple would like to get rid of that discusting dress (<points and laughs at all Highlanders>).

Thoughts, anyone?

I can think of any number of troll tanks that now feel gimped.

skill respec is easily defined in roleplay terms, each realm has a npc that explains why he can make u forget exaclty what u learned to respec your skills.

but race respec is just very extreme and silly.

Ooh yeah, give race respec. Us poor Avalonians fall over in a stiff breeze A few 100hp more would be heaven.

Race respecc would be something like a magical metamorphosis. Something like the change self spell in D&D, it would just be physical thing, nothing to do with stats.
Like a shield, as shield is a shield no matter what, however it can look different and still act the same.

It is a bit extreme and as previously mentioned not explainable in any game relevant roleplaying type scenario. I'd much rather Mythic had just not bothered at all with race restrictions for all the classes. Sure the possibilites for gimps might be great, for example troll archers, they defend our realm BK's and yet we cannot be one.

On a side note. I'd like to see the ability to /respec realm. Allow players to be banished/excommunicated from their own realm for performing some act of treason either through a quest of somekind of evil act like the assasination of one of their own keep lords. Once banished you could be stuck in the frontier zones until you perform another type of quest or act of allegiance to one of your former enemies.

Surely this couldnt be that hard to implement and would forever remove the need to try and make realm balance since their could be Dorf Healers banished to Hibernia providing them with uber insta CC. Or Luri Chanters abandoning their homeland to aid Albion with their powers of PBAOE and 50% magic resist RA's. Etc etc etc, ok it might be very hard to implement but I think it would really liven up the endgame rvr and be great for the roleplayers.

I think the race restrictions are to stop some classes becoming a bit overpowered (ok they don't always get it right, but they are trying), a recent example Mythic getting cold feet over Celt NS.

It might be better though if each race had the same starting stats BUT what they did was have a stat cap for each race and give you more points to assign when you generate your character. This way you could make anything you want but its ability to achieve in that area would be limited.

For example you give each race 40 points in everything to start but say in the case of a troll you cap what its allowed to put into dex what it currently is +20. Same effect as current system but more variation in types of chars in different classes.

Hence the much desired Troll Shadowblade could exist... it would just be a very, very bad stealther.

I'd probably stick with Briton Scout but I'd like to re-spend the 30 points I got when I started (I was a total n000000b when I rolled him and *ahem* blew points on stats which I shouldn't have).

They're just missing 5 strength and Constitution from what Britons have.
Mine actually defeated a Highlander. Although we were both level 7 (And Paladins). Twohanded, even.

Race respec I think is unessecarely. My Briton Scout, Avalonian Paladin and Briton Wizard will remain.

i think some1 asked why it couldnt be done in a herald grab bag a while ago,
the same with the starting 30 points the race is fused to your character and cannot be changed >.<

besides would be pretty pointless for a friar apart from a sex change

well considering this is meant to be a role playing game, i dont see how changing your physical person to a totally different race is really a role playing experience. respecing skills is another thing, its perefectly easy to learn something else but to change your whole body? youd need to grow a human, kill them then have your brain transplanted into their body, which is also impossible.

A "starting stat" respec would be acceptable, for people who have a really old char and mabey wern't too sure what they were doing when they made it (I know a few )

As for an entire race-respec... thats almost as silly as a class-respec.

I've chosen the saracen because I wanted thrust. I would made a briton for slash. The kobi sb is like the avalonian paladin, valid choice, but not the best for sure. So if you want to make an sb dont choose kobold
