I have been playing RA3 for a week now and have just realised why i cant get into the majority of the servers... its because they are running ra3map 1, where can i download this map ???
There are other maps i dont have but this 1 seems to be the most popular, any help much appreciated

If you have been playing ra3 for a week, you have ra3map1. It's in the pak files that the mod comes with.
I take it you can join most ra3 servers fine then?
Make sure you are using the most up-to-date version of ra3:

There is a barrysworld server called something like "Barrysworld RA3map1" or summin, which when you try to connect will start downloading what it describes as RA3map1. This is misleading, as you already have the map. The problem is that this server has some custom maps on it, which although are not in the map rotation, the server tries to download to you anyway.
Try bringing down the console (key left of 1) and typing

/cl_allowdownload 0

then

/reconnect

To test if you have the most recent version of ra3 and that this is not the problem, connect to the jolt (sorry bw, just for testing purposes ) map1 server 195.149.21.38:27964

You can either put that into gamespy or other server browser or just load q3, go to console and type

/connect 195.149.21.38:27964

hmmmm

Ok i will try your suggestion ...but i dont hold out much hope coz i have previously checked my arena folder and the only maps there are
4,6,9,10,11,12 and 13.

The RA3 maps, like other mods, are contained within the main PAK files. If you use winzip to open the pak files, you should see all the maps in there, although this is a little unnecessary.
If you've downloaded

ftp://ftp.barrysworld.com/pub/games...na3/official_patches/client/win32/ra315cl.exe

and possibly the additional map pak

ftp://ftp.barrysworld.com/pub/games/quake3/mods/rocketarena3/maps/ra3mapkit1.zip

and are running point release 1.27g or h ( ftp://ftp.barrysworld.com/pub/games/quake3/official_patches/win32/ )

you wont have any trouble connecting to 99% of ra3 servers. Only instances where you might not (although very unlikely) would be a server with custom maps, in which case, you might find the maps here

ftp://ftp.barrysworld.com/pub/games/quake3/mods/rocketarena3/maps/

or alternatively the webpage of the company running the server.

Connect to that server I mentioned though and if you can't get on there, your ra3 install is NOT complete or correct.

Thanx dude got all maps now !
Problem was io originally got RA£ from a PC magazine cover disc but it wasnt the full install.....it was the ra3clup file.
