ra3 Mods and patches

i have all the latsest patches for quake3 but when i install RA3 mod i cant play ra3 ....why ??????
i have downloaded the RA3 patch but i dont know where to put it :-(

Extract it to your Quake 3/arena folder (the actual RA3 one)Should work then.Happy fraggin'

that means manually puttin it in the folder named "arena" right ?? the "arena"in the quakeIII main folder?

errors i am gettin

Ok if i explain what i am doing maybe you can help :

i am installing the game
then adding the 1.27g point release
then adding the rocket arena file (58megs)
then adding the 1.27h beta point release
then putting the 1.4 rac beta patch in....

after doing all this i am trying to play rocket arena in single player mode..(should i be able to do this) because i just get the usuall CTF DM FFA menu as i would if i was playing the normal quake3 game, however when i bring down the system console it does say rocket arena3 ???

When i try to play Ra3 online:
i goto an arena game and where as when i dint get the map pictures when i diddnt have ra3 i actually get a map picture and it all looks good but.....when i try to connect to the server it takes me to the awaiting connection and waits for about 5 mins then comes up "unexpected multithread error" and i have to manually turn of my pc coz all the colours go weird and my start button and taskbar dissapears ....
its so annoying as i know i have everything i need to update my game but its just not happening :-(....any one who has had similar probs or knows how to fix this prob please reply...

also can ya tell me how to start a rocket arena match from the start because i may be doing this wrong
the way i am doing it is going to Q3 game and selecting mods then arena...if this is wrong please tell me

My m8 had this prob. I'll ask him how he fixed it next time i see him.

I had this problem - and it was simply solved by installing the 1.4 patch (about 400k) that makes it compatible with 1.27 - and it then worked fine.

I think I have 1.27g, so maybe u should re-install q3, add 1.27, install ra3 then the latest ra3 patch - maybe the latest ra3 fix is only compatible with g??

There is no single player mode..its a multiplayer mod and it doesn't support bots. However,y ou can get it running but you cant do it from Q3 menu/mods. The install should have placed a .bat file in your arena directory, just double click that. If you ain't got one then make your own and paste in this....

start quake3.exe +set fs_game arena +set sv_pure 0 +bot_enable 0 +set dedicated 0 +set net_port 27960 +exec server.cfg

The only problem is that you can't play unless your on a lan and have someone to connect to you. When you start a map your in spectator mode and it says 'waiting for players' so all you can do is check out the maps.

LOL, the same thing is happening to me. I haven't got round to fixing it yet as I've just bought a new mobo/cpu and am in the process of overclocking and sorting out my system.
However, my problem started when I installed Q3 Team Arena and 1.27h.
Taking a guess I would say it is 1.27h that is causing the prob and RA3 as it stands currently doesn't work with it.Go back to 1.27g and if it dont work and you start from scratch then dont install and jump straight to 1.27g, try patching in steps if you have the previous upgrades.

Also, if you open gamespy and check out your favourite server(s), the box in the bottom right hand corner gives you all the server details including what Q3 version is running. Only install up to the patch that the servers have and don't upgrade each time a new one comes out.
Or do what I do and install 2 copies of Q3 (preferably on different drives) and use one for patching new revisions...if it cocks up any mods you still have a back up...if it works online then patch the second one and use that.

ok all is good i have ra3 running on the 1.27h beta patch by putting the 1.4 ra3 patch in my arena file BUT......
i dont know if this is how its supposed to work but this is how i have to start it up to get into the ra3 menu:

when i click on my arena mod should it fire up the ra3 munu straight away??? because i am finding that the only way to get the ra3 menu screen up is to go to multiplayer on the normal multiplayer server screen and then finding an ra3 game - then leave that game and then the ra3 menu appears ....bit of a pain in the ass, i would preffer to be able to goto the ra3 menu straight away - there must be a way to be able to do this - maybe i am doin summit wrong???
can some 1 talk me through gettin the ra3 menu up ????
