ye i prob get through band of brothers at least once a year its a fantastic show and if he was even half the man he is portrayed as being, then the world lost a true hero this week.

can never give enough respect to the men and women who serve in the armed forces, winters was one of many who went above and beyond in the name of peace

R.I.P to all our fallen heroes

R.I.P :(

Actually surprisingly saddened by this, guess it's time to bust out the BoB Blu-ray.

I hope his best mate Nixon is ok

Nixon died in 1995.

It was bound to happen sometime, something that impressed was the fact that one of his operations was written into the army training manual since it was tactically, well, perfect I suppose (the one shown early on in BoB when they take the German turrets shortly after landing).

I believe Winters has several 'perfect' tactics still used in the training of soldiers and officers.

We used that part when training on how to enter bunker complexes in the Norwegian military.

Besides what is shown in BoB I know nothing of the man however, as Megadave said, if even only part of that is as it was then a remarkable man, who to be frank we need more of, has been lost.

The word hero is bandied around too often these days in regards to sportsmen and women, for example. Surely this man truly was a hero is the real sense of the word.

My friend went on the Stephen Ambrose BOB "holiday" where he met Winters and said you couldnt wish to meet a nicer, more humble man.

RIP
