is it a good idea to put qui on a 2h skalds sc suit? is the reduced style cap worth the benefits of having higher qui (slight increase in parry/evade and faster swing)

no qui is shit as you do less dmg per swing.

Erhm think qui is good to have got +50 on my sc armor, hit faster. Think no qui is some caster propaganda.

more precisely..

the damage you do when you hit someone is comprised of 2 parts: base damage, and style bonus damage.

Base damage per hit is the same no matter how quickly you are hitting...

eg if you do 400 dmg per swing unstyled (unstyled == base damage) when you have no +qui and you swing every 5 seconds.. if you capped qui, got a qui buff too or whatever you would still do 400 dmg per swing unstyled, but swinging every 4 seconds..

So clearer more qui greatly increase the base damage over time that you do....

Styled damage works differently, suppose you hit someone for 200 damage, + 100 styled damage every 4 seconds with 0 +qui.. if with qui capped/buffed etc. you would then hit for 200 damage base (unchanged still) + 50 styled damage every 2 seconds.. (ie if your attack speed doubles, your styled damage halves because styled damage is constant over time..).

Now then, owing to the fact that the very first hit you do has no delay before it, this means that no qui gives you more damage for the first few seconds of the fight, however since after that first hit styled damage will be constant with or without qui the fact that high qui has greater base damage overtime means that high qui will eventually be better damage as the fight progresses...

so if you find a fight is over in 8-10 seconds normally for you.. noo +qui is for you.. if you find fights tend to go on for much longer, capped qui is for you..

Also, if you go ooe then capped qui is far higher damage output than 0 qui. Similarily, given that attacks can be blocked/parried/evaded etc.. higher qui means you're hitting more often so more hits are likely to land than if using no qui.

Personally I cap qui and am quite happy with my performance..

(PS all of the figures used above are for illustrative purposes only and not exact, they are merely intended to give you a demonstration of how qui affects these things)

I reckon for a skald low qui might be better, since with good use of mezz and snare you effectively get 3 frontloaded hits not just 1...

on the end note, faster swing rate due to qui doesn't reduce end cost does it?
