Quick networking question...

I wanna connect my laptop (Advent 7001) to my main PC here, but I cba to go the whole hub & network route (although if forced to I will) - question is this: How do I do it easily and simply? It's basically a direct 2 way connection between the lappy and PC.

Answers on a postcard to the usual address.

no, two of the pairs are twisted and crossed in a crossover cable


in the simplest sense it means that the +'s are connected to -'s and vice versa rather than +'s to +'s...

Have both machines got firewire? If so do what I've done with mine and use that

Using a Patch cable (Standard) will result in nothing happening since the wiring is wrong, it has to be a crossover cable when connecting two computers directly to each other.

Why dont you get a USB Network running? (Is your lappy has USB of course)

You need a Lap link cable, which can either be serial/parallel/USB etc. Embattles suggestion of USB is prob the easiest and of the 3 types mentioned above, by far the fastest.
