hi guys just had a question.

what dose peapol think about camping i read billions of whine threads and there is always peapol saying "its not in the coc about camping"!
well just becuse it isent in the coc, isent it still like a unwriten law to let peapol who have ben standing there for houers at least have 5 or 10 min to try get a grp together and do the arti and then if they fail others can try ?

just looking to se how peapol feal about it =) simpel awnser is oki.

Shulde we let peapol who have campt an arit have their 10 min to try get a grp together ?? yes or no

or shulde we just let hib fall and all go greedy ? or well even more greedy then it is today.

Tbh if u stood there all day, i fink u r in title to at least have a go at the Encounter if u get a Wipe surely it is up to people how nice they are and if they rezz ya or not. but i think if someone is during a Enc and people is standing there maybe just for credit try ask if they need credit or Artis and try help each other out. would be best in most cases but that is just imo

Ok what about people who perm camp artis to sell them. Should we let these people have a go at the arti before people who need it?

You could invite the campers to join you for credit, but then you will get FH whine about somebody stealing your arti or lotto whine etc etc.

What if the camper is AFK? how long to you wait until you try it? What if whilst waiting somebody else comes and does it?

What if the camper is some level 20 alt from a duel logged person?

The COC makes a clear rule on camping. IMO stick to it.

Iam sure most ppl will agree that campers should go first, need before greed.
But to be realistic: It won't happen ... In the end those who leave campers alone will see their artefact taken away when they camp till they no longer let campers go first.
This won't change, its part of the system and its a part of the community on most servers unless all the major guilds go against it.

i think yes people who camp should have a go. but ofc there are exeptions. i.e perminent camp to sell. or, afk. etc. i think people should jsut be resanable :> like most people are. common curtasy

If you camp make sure you have the people, mates, guilds to back you up if an arti spawns if not camp as much as you like but if somebody comes along witha fgp and takes the UNPULLED arti mob don go crying to momma crying wolf wolf as this is to be expected by the greed before need breed

Yes there is an unwritten rule about campers getting some time to sort grp out but that same unwritten rule is only followed by a select few honerable fair playing people who A already have plats and artis growing out of there ears and B are just descent enough to help or leave the encounter so that the camper can try..

Either way ya damned if ya do and your damned if ya dont. oh i feel a simpsons song coming on

Look at it this hypothetical way:

If those players who camp an artifact are by the law of the game the only ones able to pull it then everyone else who wants that item, that ONLY drops from one mob in the game, must then wait.

This wait can be anything from 5 minutes to several hours (I once waited for 4 hours while a guy assembed a group to kill SoM when we had a full group there ready to do the encounter, he wouldn't accept our help and when we invited him to the group AND offered him a roll for the arti he claimed the arti was his if it dropped, then spammed hate tells at me when we disbanded him and took the encounter) while the camper assembles a group, meanwhile, the entire realm must sit and wait.

What does this mean for the realm? Less artifacts, plain and simple. The longer you wait to kill an arti mob, the longer the next player must wait for it to respawn.

You can justify anything if you choose your words carefully.

Instancing won't help, best solution for the artefact problem would be making them some kind of one time drops so no more artefact selling etc, spots wouldn't be overcamped and those who need the artefacts would have access to them

Thats a good idea, maybe just start off with the weapons as everyone uses a weapon - they could come up with a cool sounding name like "Champion Weapons" .......... mmmmmm......... <grin>


Roll on DF - at least then everyone can have an "artifact like" weapon as a one time drop/quest.

What gets me are the artifact farmers, Some people have the odd artifact theve won on a raid, or been lucky to pass while its up - but for someone to have 10 of the same artifacts on their CM for sale is just pure greed imo.

I have no problem with players who farm artifacts, my issue is that they sell them for rediculous prices, so you either have to pay or out-farm them as you can bet your bottom dollar they are AFK camping them all the time.

Another thing that gets my goat is players who have their buffbots kitted out in GoV etc. Especially those players who have rolled during a raid for that item and won when the other 30 players rolling for it actually need the item for their template.

Whatever happened to the old Hibernian proverb of "need before greed" where droppped items went to those players who could make use of them rather than those who just wanted them?
