Question: Alb exp/rvr group

I´m planning an alb exp/rvr group.
What is best? To have 2 nukers (Theurgs,Wizzies), or 2 pbaers?
I was thinking since alb pbae isn´t that powerful in PvP due to no areastun and insta mezz, therefore nukers are the best to have. But is pbae really important in PvE or is nukes as good?
The group currently looks like this:
2xCleric ; both with fairly high Rejuvenation and Enchantments
1 Minstrel ; back up stunner/mezzer, Speed.
1 Sorcerer ; CC And anti-mezz chant.
1 Paladin ; End reg, Slam and tank
1 Theurgist ; PBT, nuker

The last two spots is the problem, Should it be 2 pbaers, 2 nukers, 2 tanks(armsman,paladin,merc), 1 tank1 nuker/pbae?
Please share your thoughts on this, would appreciate it.

Why would you need insta mez in a pbaoe group :confused:

I mean ae insta mezz as in hib and mid, it´s very powerful in rvr. Because you can paralyze the other grp for a few secs, and the pbaers can run in there and start pbaing, with no insta ae mezz they will have time to spread out and therefore not that powerful.

I would get at least 1 extra tank, or 2 is better as u cant take the whole aggro with 1 tank if you gonna make a pbaoe group :)

if u go for another tank, go for another pala..if u go for 2 tanks, get 1 pala and 1 armsman :)

you will exp alot faster with 2 pbaoers but you need tanks to take aggro from the mobs so pbaoers dont get hit

im not really sure the minstrel is very usefull as the spot could better be filled with a tank for exping
and there is no point to use mezz in a pbaoe group except there are huge numbers your puling, and you cant insta mezz them to far away from your pbaoers anyway

and just huddle up togheter and all the mobs will charge towards you and not split up

in rvr a different kind of group setup is required Im afraid :(
maybe you should have a friar instead of the second cleric?
but then I havent exped anyhigher than 26 in alb since DF was implemented

ok but this is an exp/rvr group, and sorc and minstrel is very much needed in rvr. I was thinking of replacing an cleric with an friar though.

If you have 2 pbaoers in the group they bounce the aggro off eachother. I'm currently running a low-level (currently 15ish) pbaoe group with 2 ice wizzies, a paladin, cleric and minstrel and we are having no problems.
Minstrels is quite good as a second tank as they can quickly take the aggro with 2 DDs and a taunt style, and powersong for downtime.
If we were running it as a full group I would suggest another paladin, and maybe another pbaoer, friar or pbt theurg.
Obviously we haven't RvRed with it yet, but will see how it goes in Thid :)

2 Tanks (2 Palas or Pala and Arms)
1 Cleric
1 Sorc (power regen and cold debuff)
1 Theurg (pbt)
1 Necro (power transfer to Pbaers/Cleric - fast downtime)

Works good, xped in this group from lvl 5

Well, our litte zerg-exping group (yu might have seen us in Lyonesse lately since we hit the 30s), or, better said, 4 groups, have all the same structure, as these groups are also made for RvR:

1 Cleric (Rej/Enhance)
1 Friar (Enhance/Staff/Heal)
1 Theurgist (at least 26 earth)
1 Sorceror (Power regen/Mezz, so Mind specced)
1 Ice Wizard
1 Minstrel
1 Paladin
1 Tank (Merc, Arms, Reaver, Pala)

This works very well in PvE as we normally are 3 groups altogether to have fun :)
And it also worked well in the BG and also for a little bit in Odins gate - but well - also 3 groups of Level 30s do not take out more than one group of Level 50s *g*.

Why a Friar and not a second cleric ? Other 3 resist buffs - and backup healer who can also interfere in the second row saving casters/clerics life. Mine will go up to 49 enhance to get the last resistance buffs and will at least have 18 heal, maybe just 25. This for sure is no friar to go out kill tanks/hybrids solo, but well...I love my group :)

I guess the rest of the group is self-explanatory, isnt it ? :)

-RvR group

1.) Cleric (Healing+Resist buffs+stat buffs buffs)
2.) Friar (Resist buffs+stat buffs+suport healing/damage)
3.) Minstrel (Speed bot nothing more)
4.) Sorcerer (Mez + Power regan)
5.) Paladin (End Regan Bot)
6.) Theurgist (PBT+Nukes+Ice AE Root if Group Purge+Pet spaming on healing/caster classes)
7.) Merc (fast and lots of damage)
8.) Open

Open place is normaly for a slam bot or damage dealer, if caster normaly another theurgist for duel PBT, also a 2nd merc is normaly nice due to the much higher damage output ur group can sustain with the pally end chant.

This setup normaly has a very high sucsess rate.
And no matter what ppl tell u its not imposible to setup (just hard:p)

-PvE

Anything with a few pallys/clerics/ice wiz and a sorc is fine.

Afterall PBAE XP is the best there is

If you want to exp fast like my wiz 6 days played at 47.5 isn't bad really for a wiz make sure you have 2 ice wizzies in your pbaoe team,as they say 2 is better than 1:)

Best group. Not as fast in PvE as full mage groups but in RvR thats a deadly combination.

BoF, SoS, Ablative, PBT... Meleers have tough time and PBAE die instantly from 3-4 tanks assisting each other.

Takes around 5-6d /played to get 50 with that group.
Compared to PBAE which takes 3-4d.

Best PvP xp group imo :

3x paladins for holding 3 aggro
2x ice wizzies for fast killing
1x theurgist for bladeturn
1x sorc for power regen / extra nukes / ae-Con Debuffs [can swap for minstrel to stun the mobs that turn towards wizzies]
1x rejuv cleric for heals
[+buffbot = v nice]

This is I would do it: (for RvR of course)
2 clerics (high rej)
1 minstrel(ablative+speed+sos+stunbot)
1 paladin (endchant+slambot)
1 sorcerer (high mind - person with highest skill really needs to play this one)
1 theurgist (air spec - pbt, nukes - pet spam totally)
2 mercenary (best alb tank)


and.... 2 or 3 bots in apk ;)

Thats the way i play when i can.

Take away a cleric, insert a friar and fadeh's group is fine ^^

Thanks for all the advices.

I think we will go for 2 x mercs, because they will get some love in future patch and they are a kick ass tank.

Another problem is the two clerics. If I replace one cleric with a friar I get the three other resist buffs that will protect the group from RM-Dark specc nukes (as most rm specc), and Hib pbae. The friar can be backup healer etc but no instas :/ . But the Clerics are very important. If we have 2x cleric, we get 2 grp instas and 2 single instas and both will have the kick ass RA that makes the enenies to zero melee dmg to us(can´t remember what it is called).
It´s damn hard to choose one of these set ups :(
