Question about Weapon speed

Question to you LW and Spear users:

The general thing I go for with weapon choice is to go for the slowest weapon available for use in RvR.

However having recently gone for MOPain 3, I have started to wonder if this might not apply anymore.

To you high RR Hero’s and Champ’s out there. Is the increase in crit rate you get with MOPain 3 large enough to make a faster hitting weapon preferable as it will give better damage over time?

critting for less more often or for more not so often... same result.

How come it'd be better using a slower weapon? I always thought it would be better to have a faster one, so as to get off more styles (reaction based) as well as being able to go through pbt when it's there easier.

Frontloading.

Slower speed weapon does more damage per hit. You need to think carefully about the damage distribution over the first few seconds of combat. With a low qui/slow speed weapon you can run up to someone and do a hell of a lot of damage on your first hit, if 2 other people are doing the same (/assist) you wont need a second hit.

Also the realitiy of rvr is the little d00rfs run around a lot, often youll only be able to get in one blow before they peg it, so it may as well be a good un.

Most reaction based styles are after parry after evade etc. In rvr that d00rf your chasing isnt gonna turn around and fight you, so there goes any chance of landing an after parry/evade style.

Ive tried both, my last SC set had capped qui and sometimes i used a fast spear. Now I have no qui and always use a 5.0spd spear. Im much happier now doing 600+dmg per hit, even if there is a big pause before the second hit and im not likely to get of my after parry chain.

One last thing I noticed, is that if you do say 600 dmg on one hit and kill somone thats good. But if you do 2x300 dmg then theres more chance for the healers to notice that someone is taking damage and heal (assume im being assisted by 2 other people, we can either do 1800dmg and kill the target dead, or 900dmg,900dmg and those healers might just sneaka heal inbetween).

If we are assisting eachother then pbt isnt really an issue and 2h users can always swap to a fast 1h weapon (I carry a fast sickle for this) to pop pbt if really needed, or just a faster 2h.

I hated slow speed weapons tbh, take a swing, it misses, is parried, is blocked, is evaded. wait 5 seconds for another go. having quick for when i am soloing is much better too

Over time your damage output is the same. Might seem fustrating to wait 5secs for another go, but thats made up for the times you do double damage instantly on your first hit.

Solo is a different argument altogether, cant argue with +qui for solo/duels, personaly I carry some spare armour / faster spears and swap to these for those times.

quick is my best friend.. but then there arent many champs like me in hib. but believe me.. i prolly do same damage over time.. if not more. i play a different role than most champs.. that is.. either pure defense or disrupting healers.. quick is great for both.

because i am usually on a healer, that healer isnt usually in play, so aint in issue in 1 healer grps.. *sigh* like that happens often..
but, like boni says.. with 2+ healers in opposition grp, it aint as effective since it can be covered by other healer.

it all depends on your style of play and what your grp want to do really.

in general.. if u a slambot.. use quick.. if not.. dont.

there's some exceptions to this but it depends on a regular grp set up.

what about using a slow one at 1st for the 1st - 2nd hit then switching to a fast one?

hmm but you would keep the slow swing speed if you went slow to fast weapon until hit tho so maybe bad idea.
