Question about shapeshifting

What happens when a Necro uses an Artifacts Shapeshifting ability, does he turn into a panther and loses pet, does he turns into panther and keep pets or does it just not work, does anyone know or have tried it so they know how it works ?

im guessing the shade turns into panther and the pet follows

going from what i read when US first got toa, someone in grp using it will turn necros shade into a panther. A necro cant use it while in shade form, use it first, convert into a shade and it shows u as a shade (while having the panther icon ... this is also the same for turning into a mummy on ml5, done it myself).

Like I say, this might be different now but I dont think it is.
