Never really gave this any thought but stumbled over it when browsing vn or pa forums... Is it true that style damage bonus only affect 'base' styles (pierce/slash/blunt etc) and not cd/cs styles?

Maybe a noob question but givf answers :)

Can't say for certain but i've never heard anything like that mentioned before and see no reason why that should be the case. They are still styles.

Maybe I'm missing the point, but the answer to what I think you are asking would obviously be no.

Are you suggesting that infils PA (CS Style) hitting for 1000+ is no different to his base damage if he ran up and just hit F6? :p

Well... what i meant was if the bonus to style damage u get from artis etc only affects ur 'base' specline styles such as blade, pierce and blunt, not the styles in for example cd or cs :)

Found 1 thread were it was mentioned:

link

Need to be logged in there i think but here is the text:

"Also +style damage does not affect cd or crit strike styles so for me its a waste i dont spam ny Blade styles"

Old thead by now, but to clarify...

Both CS and CD styles are exactly like base styles except for two exceptions in CS: Backstab II and PA both have a semi-fixed bonus, dependant on several things but NOT on weapon speed. This is because these styles are both fired from stealth, so it prevents an infil using an ultra slow weapon for the first attack and hitting for ridiculous amounts.

This is only the case for PA and BSII however, everything else in the CS line, and EVERYTHING in the CD line works just as normal. You can read the figures in Wyrds 'style growth rate' tables.
