Question 2 : Asking lvl 50 SB's.....

Hi peeps

Another question bugging me at the moment is all about Envenom. My alt is an SB, and I'm looking to making him an all out one-hitter killer type thing, but I keep on hearing bits here and there about Lifebane being the uber daddy at finishing ppl off.

The thing is - I don't know where to fit it into my Spec Points - as I wanted to go 50CS 50Axe 34Stealth and about 12Envenom.

Will this suffice, or would it be better to sacrifice a few styles at the top end, and then make them up with items + Realm Skill Points - and then take Envenom higher? How good are those top end styles? I can only see me really using PA+it's next style, followed by the evading styles (I'm at work and don't have names of the styles in front of me )

I am 32 sword and the items I have are + 12 so 50 sword in total and I can take people down in one shot easy with 39 + 12 envenom..I use the lvl 40 poisen and you wont take peeps down without good poisen..

korv is critblade, and now when you don't stay stealthed after oneshotting, it's not as good a spec anymore

So - if you don't stay stealthed anymore, I take it you want to cause as much damage in as little time as possible. Surely the Critblade hits the hardest?

Say you open with a 2h Axe PA +Poison of some sort, and maybe get the follow up style in too, then switch to 2 axes for 2 more poisons and a couple of hits, I'd imagine the NME would be close to going down? I suppose a lot of them have an instaheal type of spell, so maybe one of the poisons or styles will stun them long enough to finish them off?

Has anyone got a calculator out and worked out the best combo of opening styles / weapons to use etc? Or from experience - could you share the best / easiest way to down an opponent?

I can only think you either have to work in teams of 2+ sb's, or you pick people off from the back of groups, like casters - to be efficient killing machines....

Are the best axes from Jimli or DF or Malmo or? I take it GA 1h hammers are the best or is there something better? And where do you find them....

I've heard that the dragon and WoW's drop uber items - but I'm looking for realistic places where you can get an item for mimimal hassle. It might still be handy to know where the best items are tho too

The best and most reliable template for a SB is:-

39 Axe/Sword, 39 Left Axe, Stealth 35, CS 34, Env 34

It's important to get the lvl 39 Left Axe style Frosty Gaze to initiate the only available stun other than the CS moves. I was about to toy around with some other templates but the character builder seems to be broken ;/ Or is it just me that can't get it working.

Currently only specking sword for reasons of not gimping myself too early (sword and CS that is). For bg im going to put some stealth in, maybe throw the left over points into envenom.

I was going for an endgame temp of a crit blade, but I hear soulblades are meant to be more fun + better, So is it worth having left axe and sword?

Ah- Zilly, your template - that's with Auto Training too I imagine. Hmmm I should have auto trained more :/

All I'm worried about is whether they change more rules and things in future patches that kill any re-specced SB's.

It looks to me like any SB or character that is made, it's all compromise and what you can get at what RR levels and items too.

What happens if you respec and you didn't auto-train that much - I take it you don't get those extra points back? Or what happens to auto trained points?

Do all your points go into a pool and you just re-assign them? Or do you get the extra auto trained points (that would be nice )

I think I'm going to have to go home and look at all the styles, the chances of landing them, what items are available out there, include some auto training and Realm Rank Points and see what the best template for me is.

That autotraining to lvl 40, is it just the first 10 levels of stealth free, ie 1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8+9+10=55 free points, ie at lvl 50= 2 levels of Stealth.... (55+left over points= lvl 34 and lvl 35 Stealth)

Does that calculation look vaguely right?

Whoever thought this game was a simple install, and kill everything in sight has got some surprise coming to them

No. U get Stealth lvl1 at 5th lvl as u become SB. So dont calculate 1.
55-1=54 free points at 40 lvl.

So I have:
39 Axe, 39 Left Axe, 35 Stealth, 34 CS and 32 Env base.

Very good template atm, but with spellcrafting implemented soon it might have been better to lower Axe a little to get Env to about 35 so that you can get it to 50 with some PC items/gems.

As it is now 32 env is a little low, but it's easy to get the 45 dot which isn't bad at all. Only a few points of damage less than lifebane, so it's ok. Technically you can get lifebane with spellcrafting and RRs, but it's a long way Very long way

And Alchemy opens up for some other nice poisons too

So, it seems like at the end of the day it all depends on what type of SB you want to make, and what the minimum you should have in that style is.

From looking at the character builder and all these posts, My summation would be that if you want to make an SB, you want to have these as the absolute minimums...

STEALTH 34/35 (for a good chance of getting to 50(items RR))
AXE 34 (for the stun)
LA 39 (for the stun)
CS 34 (for the stun)
ENV 35/36 (for a good chance of getting to 50(items RR))

SWORD not sure as the stun is on 39 but requires a fumble.

I think from this, I'm going to make a Stealth 34/35 Axe 44 CS 44 Env 35/36 type SB, and it should be damn good fun.

Have I gone too low on the Stealth and Envenom if I want to reach 50 with say rr3-5? Are there enough items out there to get them to 50?

I've had a little look for items that have envenom, found some Gloves in DF that give +4 Env (Atramentous Ichor Gloves) and an Infernal Jewel of Venom +5 Env. With RR3 or 4, that gives 2-3.
that's 11-12 points. I still need to magic at least 4 points to be sure.

I've been told the epic armour gives +4 Envenom, could someone post what item or items give these +4 Please?

All of the above are crafted.

Bring a shitload of cash.

eg. 100% 1h cleaver = 235g + 45g for recraft costs

Average 100% item seems to happen somewhere around the 200th craft (practical experience of US crafters).

That makes it 235g + (200x45g)= 1135g + 1000g for making me craft for a goddamned 2days. And armour is even more expensive....

There were some talks of SC/Alc being able to raise qual with max 5% but cant find it in the current documents.

More on the SB Spec Point Front - I think it all depends also if you want to go LA or not....

WITHOUT LA - I think I'd go Stealth 34 Axe 44 CS 44 Env 36 type SB

WITH LA - from that weblink - Stealth 34 Axe 35 CS 34 Env 35 LA 39

So the question is - do you go for LA, and possibly gimp all your stats a bit - yet be a better all rounder - or do you leave out LA, and get higher hits?? Is that what having higher CS and Axe means?

to get high dmg u need high weap specc so get ur weaps to 40+ if u can .. im currently lvling an sb (sz) and id say going for 34cs and zilly says is the best way (he thinks not a general opinion) to get CD which stuns, is a watse, since u stun from ur evade style so 10 or 21 cs for good opening rest df/backpstyle comeback followed by a frosty gaze for stun ... and since u get a higher lvl stu there thats why ill go 21cs cause if u stun with yopur opening (bs2 lvl 10cs) u cant stun later in combat unoless its a 1min~~~~ fight ^^
ill go 41axe 41la 38envenom (to lazy to get rr5) 35stealth 21 cs, thats with 48autotrain i mighht add

That's 2000g for 1 axe (worst case scenario).

You want me to spend 2 days crafting for a perfect weapon? Sure but you'll make it worth my time then.

You should be able to get 500-1500g in DF in one day according to US people.

1: Jimlis axes r0xx I got a 99% 2bladed that replaced my 97% 2bladed recently, and it is awesome.

2: there are imo 2 good sb templates 1.50+:

5-spec s:33 e:33 a:41 left:39 crit:34 (Probably Varg v1.52)
Sz: s:33 e:35 a:47 left:44 crit:10 (Varg's current)

Sz Works great but I think Varg will respec to 5-spec if not for anything else so for the new tools/challange

It's the general opinion (not just mine) that CS 34 is essential if you want to get the better of other classes.

For example, you can use a tactic against tank classes by gaining some distance after initiating the PA + CD styles, then returning stealthed to try your PA again while re-applying another poison to use. More importantly dual weilding with faster weapons, CD prevents a high pecentage of classes using instant mez or shield classes stunning early on in the fight. This all proves crucial to the final outcome.

You can't depend on Lifebane alone to get the better of your opponants, you need as many stun moves as you can acquire and CD is a style that will win many fights. Don't get me wrong, you will still kick arse on the battlefield, but without CD soloing will be more difficult.

+9 was the highest iirc. (+5 jewel, +4 gloves)???
