quake3, bad key?????help me......

I have just brought quake 3 and everytime i try to connect with a server it says key already in use and then bad key. I have typed the key in correctly. does anyone know an answer????? please help I'm desperate.

despite what it says on the box, you type your CD key in LOWER CASE! and I know I said that in upper case...

and REALLY make sure you typed it in correctly in LOWER CASE!!
